Description: Jeyme and Haroon say their farewells... sort of.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 2, day 18 of Turn 9
**Just one more,** Haroon told himself as his lips found Jeyme's once
more, one hand buried in her hair as the other was curled around the
door handle.
Jeyme was on her tiptoes, leaning up into Haroon's touch, when she
heard the curtain that separated the entrance to Quinneth's weyrcouch
flapping against the wall. "You should probably go," she sighed, "the
wind is picking up."
}:And it's starting to rain sideways into my weyrcouch.:{ Quinneth complained.
"Yeah," he breathed, still tasting her on his lips. Shards, what a
night. The unexpected really was amazing. "Thank you for showing me
such incredible hospitality, Wingthird. I can honestly say, I will
never forget it."
"Neither will I, Runner," she smiled and smoothed her hands over the
front of his tunic. Haroon had been a passionate lover, and he'd made
her feel wanted and desirable, something she hadn't felt in a long
time. "Come see me the next time you're in the area."
"Even if I have to send myself as a package, I guarantee you'll see me
again." His fingers twisted the handle as he stole one more kiss.
"Good bye for now."
Jeyme stood in her doorway and watched the runner walk away. Smiling,
the greenrider raised her fingers to touch her lips, still able to
feel that last kiss from Haroon. It was really a shame he had to live
so far away, she decided as she closed the door and then walked across
her weyr, drawing her robe around her as she did and tying the belt
loosely around her waist.
"The wind is really coming in," she said to herself as she pulled down
the flapping curtain and secured it into place. She could hear the
water outside slapping loudly against Quinneth's weyrledge. It was a
nasty day for people who were trying to travel back to their homes.
The dolphineers had said that a hurricane was heading their way, and
it seemed as though their predictions had been correct.
A candlemark later and the wind was still just starting to pick up, a
pretense of the ferocity of what was to come. But now, the sound
competed with that of the rain that was starting to come down in
windblown sheets, the force of which could be heard even inside the
weyr. It was then that a loud knock was heard at the door.
Jeyme wondered who could possibly be at her door. It was one of
D'hol's days with Dheymin, and Ayeme was with her foster mother.
Tugging the belt on her robe a little tighter, the greenrider went to
her door and opened it marginally. Her eyes widened, "Haroon?"
The runner stood before her, drenched in rain, a small puddle forming
around his feet. "Hi." In truth, he hadn't thought much past that.
"So... Did you realize that it's _raining_ out there? I mean it's
raining hard. I certainly can't run in this, so..." He leaned a hand
against the door jam as he gave her a hopeful smile. "I don't suppose
I could impose on Dolphin Cove hospitality for another night, could I?
If it isn't too much trouble, of course."
The greenrider laughed and opened her door fully, "Get in here. You're
soaked." Jeyme shut the door behind Haroon and went over to toss a
couple logs onto the fire.
"Thanks," he said with a relieved sigh. Haroon really had no back up
plan when he showed up at her door unexpectedly. ""I'm not
interrupting anything, am I?"
"Of course not, I was just in here thinking how I was glad that I
wasn't out there in the rain. You want to get out of those wet
clothes?" Jeyme asked.
"I do, actually," he said, looking a bit chagrined. "And I must
confess, my dry change of clothes were strapped to a dragon. I guess
I didn't think my plan through all that well."
Jeyme shook her head slowly and tsked, "I guess you'll just have to
take your clothes off and I'll get you a blanket while they dry on the
rack."
Haroon kicked off his boots as he reached up to pull his tunic over
his head. "Or I could just borrow your robe," he said with a saucy
grin.
"You could," she grinned, "but then how would I keep warm?"
"That's true." He reached for his belt. "I hear rankers in Weyrs get
their own bathing pools. Would that keep us both warm?"
"I came back to Dolphin Cove after the River Bluff refugees arrived,
so I wasn't fortunate enough to snag a weyr with a bathing pool." Her
eyes traveled down to watch his hands. "I guess that means we might
just have to huddle under a blanket together," the gleam in her eyes
said that she didn't find this an inconvenience at all.
He pulled the last of his clothes off and laid them over the rack.
"Well, greenrider, I'm ready."
Jeyme grabbed the blanket from the back of the couch and held it out,
"Then come here," she held the blanket open.
