Would You Like To Go?

Writers: Cali, Eimi
Date Posted: 12th March 2006

Characters: Mosler, Trellyn, Supaka
Description: Mosler tells Trellyn and Supaka about their next assignment.
Location: Dolphin Hall
Date: month 10, day 17 of Turn 3

It was a good day for sailing, clear skies and steady breeze. Mosler could see he had timed his leg stretching perfectly, the apprentices were lashing down the last of the little boats and being dismissed. He waved a greeting to Trellyn and Supaka when they noticed his approach. "How was class?" he asked when he was close enough to be heard. Trellyn snorted, "Well, besides Kibb having to tow one back because she can't seem to understand the idea of tacking... fine."

"Yes, I think apprentice Shiranai might need a little extra attention,"
Supaka agreed. "But she's very good on the line otherwise."

"Well, if she continues to have problems, let Master Metlick know. He'll assign one of the senior apprentices to tutor her." he replied, already dismissing the issue. Trellyn was prone to exaggerate weaknesses in the apprentices. "Speaking of our good Master of Apprentices, I found out this morning that his son is to be married. " "Tellick?" Trellyn asked surprised. He was a fellow dolphineer who had been assigned to Morning Cliff Hold to work with the local dolphin pod.

Mosler smiled at her interest. "The very same. It seems he found a wife with one of the local girls. Metlick has requested to attend of course, and the one and only True Runner just happens to be heading that way." he said with a nod to Supaka. Supaka gave the Hallmaster a small smile. She knew Kessel would be setting out soon, and she knew they would be headed in that direction. Just for a couple weeks, he had promised. This was to be a short voyage, which she had been grateful for. She couldn't bear a long separation. Not so soon, at least.

"Would you like to go?" he said simply in Supaka's direction. "_Me_?" Suapaka asked, dumbfounded. Hope shown in her eyes. One more voyage with Kessel? "But what about my daughter?"

"You can leave her here of course, but I'd like you to consider taking her along." Mosler replied. "It seemed like such a waste of a trip to just go to Morning Cliff and back, so you'd be making stops at some of the sea holds on the way back to check in with our stationed journeymen and maybe even acquire a few potential apprentices while you're out. I was thinking that a family unit such as yours would make a good impression to some of the more conservative holds." "Of course! Yes, I would love to bring her!" It was almost too good to be true!

"Good, you too Trellyn." Mosler said, looking over at the other journeywoman.

Trellyn raised her eyebrows, "What? I don't have any kids to show off!" He smiled, "I'm sure you don't; but you're going too."

"Why?" she asked a bit too harshly. She didn't want to be stuck on one of those ships for several weeks; and she _really_ didn't want to see Tellick again, especially if he had some doting bride at his heels. Mosler frowned slightly. "Because I say. I'm kicking you out in all honesty. Besides a few day trips out to the islands, you haven't done any time away from the Hall since you made Senior. It's about time you took your turn." She wanted to argue, but Trellyn knew what he said was true. "Fine." Supaka cleared her throat uncomfortably. "Ah, Master, how long do you think this trip will take?"

"Two sevendays probably." Mosler said easily to the journeywoman, "maybe a bit longer, depending on the port calls. Your husband is working out the schedule with Master Metlick."

"Selka and I will be ready," Supaka grinned. Two weeks with her husband and daughter on the same boat again!

Trellyn shrugged, "Me too. Callig's been wanting to get his hands on the dinghies anyways for some thorough inspections, now's his chance I guess." "Speaking of which, I'd better let you go and catch that." he grinned as he pointed out to where one of the boats' ties had come undone and was now drifting back out into the open water. "Oh Shards!"
