Jeyme

Jeyme

This was it, the last time she would stand in the weyr she had shared with A'dan, the place where they had raised Ayeme together for a short while. She'd agreed to being weyrmates with A'dan two months after she'd given birth to Ayeme. It had made sense and, well, she had come to love the brownrider. It wasn't the grand, sweeping, lusty romance she'd had with D'hol, but something sweet, and tender, based on friendship first.

**Flashback**

"Say it again," A'dan murmured in her ear.

Jeyme laughed, "Seriously?"

"Just one more time," he whispered.

"I love you," Jeyme tilted her head back, wrapped in A'dan's arms as they stood out on their weyrledge together, watching as the first stars appeared in the evening sky.

"It only took a Turn to hear you say it." He grinned, giving her a squeeze.

"I'm sure it was worth the wait."

A'dan pressed his lips to her neck, "Very." He murmured against her skin.

A shiver raced down Jeyme's spine, and she turned and looped her arms around his neck, "Take me to bed, weyrmate."

"Gladly." He lifted her, earning a pleased giggle from the greenrider, as he carried her inside.

**End Flashback**

Fresh, warm tears pressed to the backs of her eyes as she stood there on the ledge, remembering well the way his arms had felt around her that night. This was it, by leaving this weyr, she was saying her final goodbye to A'dan.

Going down on one knee, Jeyme pressed her lips to her fingertips and then touched them to the stone of the ledge, "Goodbye, weyrmate."

Dashing her sleeve across her eyes, Jeyme stood and then vaulted to Quinneth's neckridge, her shoulders set, her expression strong. A'dan would have been angry, a rare feeling for the brownrider, had she stayed there and grieved or been sad. He would have wanted her to move on and be happy. If there was anything that personified A'dan it was happiness.

}:Ready?:{ Quinneth inquired.

Jeyme stared into the now empty weyr. Ayeme and Dheymin were already at Dolphin Cove, settling in with their new foster mother, and all of her things she'd moved in to a modest-sized weyr earlier that day.

Swallowing past the lump in her throat, Jeyme nodded. "Yeah, let's go."

Quinneth jumped from the ledge, quickly taking to the skies above Far Island, and bidding the watchdragon there a farewell.

The weather of Dolphin Cove warmed up her bones as they came out of /between/. Even though saying goodbye was hard, coming back to Dolphin Cove felt right, it felt like she was coming home. Only, she wasn't the same little greenrider that had left, the woman that returned now was different, better....

**Stronger.** Yes, she was, she could look toward the ledges where the gold dragons lounged and feel no anger or jealousy. The hurt feelings from before were gone, replaced instead by the self-confidence that A'dan had helped her find.

}:Quinneth. Reporting home.:{ The green trumpeted happily as she made her descent.
