Xeladrie

Zelah

Dear K'dee,

I have not seen you since after I was sent to Turquoise Bay to have my
child. I understand River Bluff was abandoned and you had to transfer. I
hope that wherever you are, this letter finds you and Vatonth well.

There is an issue of urgency and importance I need to discuss with you.
I would prefer a meeting in person but it must be _absolutely discreet_.
Can you contrive of a reason to visit Turquoise Bluff and speak with me?

Sincerely,

Xeladrie

Xeladrie signed her name, and then read over the letter she had written
one more time. Satisfied, she then secured it to Glimmer's leg. She
carefully pictured K'dee in her mind - his smile, his limp, what she
could remember of his bronze dragon. Then the green, understanding,
chirped and disappeared /between/.

She emerged near Vatonth's head, trilling delightedly, and sent ~~need
find person~~ at the bronze, encouraging him to call his rider.

It took a moment two to get moving. Nobody had bargained for the sudden
transition to Dragonfall, and a new weyr in a new to him Weyr. "Hey there,"
he said slowly and gently to the little green flitter. "Have you got
something for me? I'll find you a treat if you let me have it."

Glimmer knew 'treat'. And she knew the person Xeladrie was still
imaging. ~~here~~ the flit sent, offering her leg.

"Okay," he said as he unfastened the note. "You stay right there, and
when I've read this, there'll be some meatroll for you. I bet you'd
like that."

K'dee read the note, **Vatonth,** he asked of his bronze. **Can you
ask her to wait five minutes for a reply?**

}:I think I can make her understand:{

K'dee made his way back inside his weyr and found some writing materials.

My Lady,

I would be honoured to meet with you. As it so happens, I have a sweep
flights over Turquoise Bay for the next three days, and I'm sure I
could see a signal flag below that would require me to land. If that
would be acceptable to you.

If I see a flag I'm sure Vatonth can alert her small green cousin that
I am taking a short break from the flight to ease my leg, and if you
happened to be taking a walk at that moment...

Regards,

K'dee of Bronze Vatonth

The bronzerider folded the note so that he could fasten it to the
green, and took up half a meatroll, ready to pull some scraps from it.
"There you go little one," he said coaxing her close with the promised
treat. "You eat this, and take this back to your lady."

Glimmer eagerly pounced towards him as soon as she saw the meatroll.
She wanted the treat. The meat. Right there. She could let him put
something on her leg for that. She came close and posed.

The note was fastened to the flitter's leg. K'dee offered her more of
the meat. "I think you've earned this," he told her, giving her a
gentle scratch. "Now you make sure you get that to your lady, and just
her."

Glimmer cheeped twice and nearly bit K'dee's finger in her joy at
eating more treats. She understood the idea of going back to her
person. She could do that. She went /between/.

Xeladrie was surprised, but pleased, to see Glimmer back so soon. She
had worried the green wouldn't find K'dee, or that he would have to
take some time to think about it. She retrived and unrolled the reply
and read it.

A signal flag requiring him to land... Eating his leg... Taking a
walk... she could make this work if she coordinated with Ranni, she
was sure. Have her maid raise the flag, contrive to be walking for her
health.

She wrote her own quick reply.

K'dee,

That would be marvelous to happen. Thank you for your courtesy.

Sincerely,

Xeladrie

Glimmer was given a small piece of jerky and encouraged to /between/
back to K'dee. She found him much faster this time.

The rider read the note, scrawling three words in response.

Until tomorrow,

K'dee
