G'nir

G'nir

The firelizard landed on G'nir's desk and handed a claw with message attached to it. He didn't recongnize the creature, but was hardly surprising. He took the letter and opened. The look of surprise crossed his face when he started to read it.

#Greetings, G'nir. Remember me, your cousin Aillor? You know, the one who could be Lord Holder now if your father hadn't taken the mantle? I know I haven't been in contact but now I have huge favour to ask from you. I have son, and I just learned he's going to Stand in Dolphin Cove's next Hatching. And, before you ask, no, he doesn't know he's mine. I can't make it to he Hatching (I'm currently docked at Turquoise Bay), so can you hop on that overgrown firelizard of yours and go and see him Impress? For my behalf. Everyone should have some family witnessing even if they don't know it.#

"Nirreth is not an overgrown firelizard!" G'nir growled. He had not know Aillor very well, there was more than decade in age difference between them and he had been fostered to Coral Bay when G'nir had been child. But he had heard some many stories of him, mostly scandalous. That he had a bastard somewhere was not a surprise. He continued reading the letter.

# He's name is Ailbe and he looks like his mother. If he takes after me, he'll probably Impress a blue or some pretty green. If he takes after his mother, he'll Impress a gold. #

"Boys don't Impress golds," Gnir couldn't resist commenting. Of course Aillor knew that.

#With Love (or not),best regards, your cousin, Captain Aillor#

The firelizard, well trained creature, was still patiently waiting for a reply message or rewards. G'nir picked up his pen and stated to write a reply.

"Cousin Aillor, warm greetings. You know, insulting your relatives isn't way to win favours. Nirreth is not an overgrown firelizard. I can go to that Hatching but I have no idea who to watch for. If I remember correctly, you never wanted to be a Lord Holder, instead you ran off to become a seacrafter. Yours truly, G'nir, Weyrlingmaster, rider of bronze Nirreth."

He gave the letter to firelizard and he flew off. The creature did return few moments later, with a reply to his reply.

#Says the one who ran off to become a dragonrider. Look's like you've turned out to be at least half decent. Thank you for going and seeing the boy Impress. I just wish I could be there. I owe you big time, if you ever need services of a sea captain. Aillor.#

G'nir could only shake his head. Apparently cousin Aillor was of blunt sort. An idea was starting to form in his mind.

Turquoise Bay, huh? And he just had this Žove grown firelizard' who could take him anywhere.
