Lenala

Lenala

"Yes," Lenala agreed with a smile. "The water's probably too cold for a swim."

"That's disappointing," he said, thinking playing around in the water
with Lenala could have been quite enjoyable indeed. Though there were
other ways to amuse themselves when they got home...

"So was Orlaith's flight the last time you were here?"

"Yes, that's right. The weather was warmer then so I could take a dip
in the pond," Lenala replied.

"That sounds nice and cooling," he said.

Realizing nature was calling, he offered her the basket. "I'm just
going to step off for a minute," he explained.

"Alright, I'll set up the picnic," she took the basket.

}: And I can show you where to find fat wild wherries," Vilarth said to Volaith.

}:I like the sound of that,:{ the bronze said.

A'kades stepped into the woods for a little privacy, looking for a
good spot to relieve himself.

Lenala nodded and started to spread the blanket to the ground. The
dragons took to flight.
She hummed quietly to herself while unpacking the basket. She was enjoying this.

"Well, well, lookee this, mate. What have we here? A girlie all alone
in the woods?" the crude voice startled her. She saw two man stepping
out of the forest. Based on their garbs and gear, they were either
hunters, lumberjacks ...or holdless. "You lost, sweetie?"

A'kades had just moved aside his clothes and started to handle
business when the sound of unfamiliar male voices startled him. Lenala
had said nobody was around - who were they?

He yanked up the laces and turned back into the clearing. "Who are
you?" he demanded of the men. His riding jacket was off but his tunic
still had his knots looped through the shoulder. He hoped that, his
muscle, and an intimidating glare would help this situation.

"I'm not alone, I'm not lost and I'm definitely not your sweetie,"
Lenala replied the men with frosty tone, encouraged by A'kades'
presence. Deep down, she was quite scared and even more scared when
she thought what might happen if she had been alone. Of course,
Vilarth would not let anything happen to her.

The men looked from Lenala to A'kades and back. "We're hunters and
You are trespassing our Holder's land," he snarled. "So, you're the ones
who should explain your presence here."

"We're dragonriders enjoying a picnic and your Holder is my father,"
Lenala said with all the haughtiness she could muster.

The other man, who had been quiet so far, took a closer look at her.
"Lady Lenala?" he asked.

"Yes, that's me, goldrider Lenala now," she replied. The man did look
bit familiar, like she had know him when she was child. He seemed to
be around same age, so perhaps she had known him as a child. She
couldn't recall any name though.

The men weren't holdless, which was good. A'kades had gotten Volaith's
attention and knew the dragons would have protected them, but he
hadn't wanted a fight to start if it could be avoided. He kept an eye
on the men even when it sounded like they recognized Lenala.

"But, but..." the first man apparently had one track mind and had problems
switching his attitude.
The second man pulled him back from the shoulder. "Forget it," he murmured.

Lenala hoped they would go away and fast. Their presence spoiled the
privacy of her secret spot.

"Is there a problem with the Lady and I being here?" He asked mildly.

Vilarth returned just then, her bulk casting a shadow, the dead wherry
hanging from her jaws reminding that she was in fact a very large,
meating eating predator.

"No, there's no problem," the first hunter said, unnerved by the large gold.

"We won't bother you any more, enjoy your picnic," the second said and
the men retreated hastily back to the woods.

"Thank Faranth," Lenala murmured when they had gone. Their sudden
appearance had quite frightened her.

A'kades watched as they beat their retreat.

"I'm sorry they ruined this for you," he said.

"Maybe we can still salvage it," Lenala replied.

"What would be needed for that?" he asked, drawing closer to put an
arm around her.

"Distraction," Lenala replied with whimsical smile, wrapped her arms
around his neck and went for a kiss.

He was more than happy to provide that kind of distraction, A'kades
thought, as he pulled Lenala closer to his body and kissed her with
all the passion he could muster. She deserved a wonderful night for
being such a wonderful woman.
