Remembering the past.

Writers: Roxanne
Date Posted: 28th February 2006

Characters: C'lor
Description: C'lor remembers his own Impression and wonders what the future has in store for him.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 10, day 8 of Turn 3

He had initially wanted to hide out in his weyr during the hatching, but he had been asked to help with the new weyrlings during the hatching. His eyesight was still rather hazy at best, so he was glad to be of what help he could. If he had been in a fighting wing, he wouldn't be able to fly threadfall, but as he was only fifteen turns he was only a weyrlingstaff assistant. He could do a lot of things without all of his sight except the aerial drills. Hayreith kept him practising flying when they had nothing else to do.

}:They are hatching, C'lor!:{ Hayreith said excitedly as he joined in the humming with the other dragons.

**I can tell.** he replied with a laugh. The candidates were entering the sand as he joined the Weyrlingstaff and helped haul buckets of meat into place.

He remembered his very first hatching in which Hayreith had found him. He had been so nervous as he had no idea what to expect. He had only been at the Weyr for three months when he Impressed and the change from living at Emerald Falls was hard to adjust to. Everything had been louder and more laidback than at the hold he had been born and raised in.

}:I found you and we are here not there.:{ Hayreith told his rider comfortingly. His rider always had sad thoughts when he remembered that hold.

**Yes, you did and I'm glad.**

}:Look! The first egg is hatching!:{ the bronze said directing his rider's attention back to the event that they had come to watch.

**A bronze! You used to be about that size, you know.** C'lor said watching the young bronze find his candidate and Impression was made. The new weyrlings made their way towards him and the young bronzerider remembered when he had done the exact same thing. Feeding the hungry bronze hatchling had been an interesting experience. He almost had his fingers bitten a time or two that day, before Hayreith learned to wait until C'lor's fingers were out of the way.

}:I was that tiny? You had to learn to move your hand faster.:{ the bronze insisted picking up on his rider's thoughts of their first day together.

**Yes, you were.** he replied deciding to ignore the bronze's other comment. He didn't feel like arguing with his dragon when he had other things to do. He wanted so much for his eyesight to be clear so that when he was old enough he could join a fighting wing. Until the he would simply have to wait and see what happened. He would take things one day at a time and one problem at a time.
