Lanniya

Lanniya

Since graduating, Lanniya had been swamped with work, so it was with
pleasure that she was able to find a few moments to visit her friend.
She settled down on a chair across from him and tilted her head. "
So...how have you been?"

"I've been well. I hear your life has gotten very exciting," he teased.

Lanniya shook her head. "Not exciting. Just busy. SInce Lenala..." her
voice trailed off and she sighed. "I never realized it would be so
much work and I can't say I care for it much." She curled her feet
under her. "Is it better for you, being in a wing?" She tilted her
head at him and blinked, then her mouth dropped open. "Something
happened, didn't it?"

"What?" Then he made a connection and he started to panic. Did it
somehow show? Could everyone guess? "H--how do you know something
happened?"

Lanniya raised a hand to try to calm him. "You're happier. There's
less tension in your shoulders." She then paused and looked a little
embarrassed. "And Nalarith told Anaeryth that you were..." Her throat
cleared. "Much better now that you had mated."

A'dryn groaned and put a hand to his face. **Who else have you told?!**

}:Only Anaeryth. We are friends and you are friends with her rider.:{

"It... it was for her sake. Part of our necessary training." He wasn't
quite sure why he was defending himself. Lanniya had been nothing but
supportive.

"Oh, don't do that!" Lanniya moved quickly to sit next to A'dryn. "I'm
happy for you. Really! I think it's wonderful."

This was far too personal and inappropriate. But he had an urge to
talk to _someone_ about it and Lanniya was his best friend. "It really
was for Nalarith. The... person was very kind and it wasn't as bad as
I'd feared. It, um..." He squirmed. "Felt sort of good."

Her face was definitely interested. "It did? I was told it did." She
sighed. "You're so lucky."

He blinked. "Lucky? Why am I lucky?"

"Well, you got to...you know. And you liked it. That's good." She
sighed. "You're lucky because you obviously found someone really nice
to do that for you."

"You haven't?" He thought bronzeriders would be falling all over
themselves to impress her.

She shook her head. "No." She sighed and then shrugged. "It'll happen
sometime, I'm sure." She brightened. "So. Tell me about it! What was
it like?"

His face flushed. "I--I'm not going to describe something like that.
And by the way, I didn't find him, he found me. The weyrlingstaff
asked him to help me. So you should speak to them about finding you
a..." He searched for a word. "An appropriate partner."

"I didn't mean the nitty gritty details!" She giggled and shook her
head. "No, just if it felt good and what was it like. Was he nice? Was
it what you'd thought it'd be. That sort of thing." She held out a
hand. "Believe me, I already know what exactly goes on. Some greens
are really really descriptive." She paused. "Not that yours is. She
hasn't done that at all, I swear."

**Did you?** A'dryn asked Nalarith.

}:I do not remember what I said. That it was good, I think.:{

A'dryn hoped that she'd been vague about it. "I will say that it was
enjoyable overall." Even if he'd cried with shame afterward. "Although
I do wish it had... meant something."

Lanniya nodded. "I think I understand. I think that's why I haven't
done anything yet. I mean, yeah, it might feel good and all, but I
would rather feel that way with someone who likes me as much as I like
him, you know?"

"I hope you find that. But in any case it's very important that you
take care of things before she Rises. You have more time than a
greenrider, but don't wait too long."

"There's time enough to find the right person." She waved it off.
"So...are you going to do it again? Before Nalarith rises?"

A'dryn shook his head. "When it happens again I want it to be natural.
Not with a deadline looming over me." It was shocking that he was even
discussing this as if it were a normal event. It proved the depth of
friendship and trust he put in Lanniya.

She nodded. "Good. I'm happy for you then." She reached to hug him and
then sat back. "So, I think we should go get some cheese and wine and
take the evening off."

"That sounds like a wonderful idea."
