K'ran's body felt warm and relaxed, and a pleased contentment suffused
him. He yawned and stretched, and then became aware that something was
odd. The bed was smaller than expected. And there was a warm shape
next to him...
}:I flew Sawauth well,:{ Rogueth informed him smugly. The bronze was
curled around the green, pleased he'd caught her. This was a mature
canny green and he very much liked her.
**Oh, shards.** Tavia. He knew her from working with her of course,
but he didn't know her well enough to _know_ her. Was that more or
less awkward than with the poor weyrling?
"Mmmmm," Tavia almost purred like a feline as she came slowly awake.
"That was a very good flight," she added without opening her eyes. Her
actions were almost a reflection of her lifemates as Sawauth shifted
in Rogueth's embrace.
He'd never figured out how to respond to post-flight talk even in Turns of
being a rider, and struggled to control his blush. So he fell back on
complimenting her dragon. "Sawauth flew very well. She was canny."
"She is that," Tavia agreed easily. She turned in his arms and didn't
miss the blush. Her eyebrows twitched together. "When was the last
time you caught?" Perhaps that was the wrong question to ask but it
was out of her mouth before she could call it back.
"The weyrling who threw up on me. Ninaine," he said sheepishly.
"Oh my," she said in sympathy and she gave a small grimace. "That
couldn't have been good." She smiled and her hand skimmed over his
ribs. "I promise I won't throw up on you."
"That would make it memorable in exactly the wrong way for everyone," he agreed.
"I wouldn't like that," she said lightly. "I'd like to make it
memorable for an entirely different reason, would you," she smiled the
question.
Part of him always felt embarrassment at flights and the responses of
it, which was an old familiar ache of 'shouldn't' - but his body
remembered what they'd just done and stirred at the thought, as at her
hands on his ribs. For once, he was happy to lean over and kiss her as
a reply.
"Mmmm," she responded and molded herself against him. This was a very
good start toward a memory.
K'ran rolled over onto the greenrider, covering her body with his own
as he responded to her intentions.

This time, as he lay next to her, he found the embarrassment had faded
away. Something about connecting with a woman when it was both your
choice, and not just the dragonlust that made you not even aware of
who you were, made it feel less awkward. K'ran brushed hair back from
her forehead and dropped a gentle kiss to her cheek.
She smiled and turned her face up to him again. She liked these kinds
of encounters that didn't involve the heart but were warm and
pleasurable. How had she gotten so serious after Kaiavin's birth that
she'd completely neglected the fun? "I enjoyed that K'ran. Very much."
She chuckled. "But then you could probably tell."
Tavia was pretty and responsive. He wasn't sure, but he thought she
hadn't been involved against since the prior Wingleader had left.
Looking at her in repose, he didn't know why.
"I did indeed. I'm glad Sawauth chose Rogueth."
"This was fun," she said and stroked the hairs on his chest. "I've
been missing fun in my life lately." She didn't want any declarations.
She just wanted him aware that she wouldn't mind some fun without
strings occasionally. Bronzeriders didn't usually have any difficulty
picking up hints in her experience.
"As nice as you are? I find that hard to believe," he said.
Her eyes darkened and she looked down for a moment. "It's been
difficult since U'kaiah left," she said softly. "I've been closed off.
I think I'd like to change that." Maybe that was more than enough
explanation for the way she'd been acting.
The warm feelings from the flight had faded from lust to cheeriness
and affection, and he brushed his lips against her cheek in a gentle
manner. "I think you should," he agreed, wondering what he could do
for her. Then he had an idea.
"Have you ever seen the black sand of Ista? Or if the beach isn't to
your taste, the beauty of the high mountains of the Range?"
"Black sand," she smiled. "I don't think I have ever seen it." She
snuggled into his side happy for just these few moments of tenderness.
"It sounds beautiful."
"Then we'll go the next restday after this. Just have her ask for me,"
he said with a smile. His stomach grumbled, reminding him of other
things. "And maybe we should grab a meal."
"Oh yes," she agreed immediately. "I'm very hungry after all that
exercise," She grinned up at him then swung her feet off the bed to
begin finding her clothes.
