How Horrible and Embarrassing

Writers: Devin, Chelle
Date Posted: 9th February 2016

Characters: A'dryn, X'pre
Description: Things don't go well for A'dryn after the flight.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 4, day 3 of Turn 8
Notes: Mentioned: D'arvn; Follows Why Are There So Many Bronzes?

Everything was hazy and for a moment A'dryn didn't even know who he
was. Something big and warm was pressed up against him. He blinked
awake and saw a man. Next to him. In bed.

With a gasp, he pulled away. A'dryn winced as pain shot through his
backside. This rider hadn't been as gentle as D'arvn. **He . . . We .
. .** A'dryn's stomach churned.

After all of his exertions, X'pre wasn't exactly quick to rise. The brownrider
continued to lie there, sleepy and warm. Thankfully, A'dryn hadn't made much
noise. As it was, he was above the furs, on his side, and facing toward the
greenrider snoring.

A'dryn tried to cover himself with the furs without moving too much.
It was difficult with the brownrider weighing most of it down. As he
tugged at the furs he looked around for his clothing. There was a
shirt near the door and something hanging off the end of the cot. He
whimpered at the evidence of how wild things had been. A'dryn pulled
harder at the furs, wishing he could find a hole to crawl into and
never come out. How would he be able to face anyone after this?

The noise and the continued movement was enough to rouse X'pre.
He wasn't as big as some but he could hold his own and a few turns or
so of riding had given him that muscle tone most riders sported. Making
a few noises himself, he rubbed his nose and mouth, then he began to adjust-
coming out of the disorientation left by the flightlust. He felt the body moving
away from him. It was small, but the breathing told him it wasn't female.

Sitting up in the cot, he turned his back and began to pull his trousers on.
"Can I get you anything?" After all, it wasn't one of those times he stayed
around and asked for another round. And it also wasn't one of those times
he would be thanking the other rider for a great romp. What else was there
to say?

"No thank you," A'dryn said automatically. He'd managed to get the
furs to cover his lap. **He won't hurt me. He won't hurt me.**
Although A'dryn had his aching rear as evidence the rider already
_had_. His stomach tightened again. This was horrible and thoroughly
embarrassing. How much worse must it be for the brownrider? He didn't
even like men at all. "I'm sorry."

That was not the best thing that he could have said. Something in X'pre had
been thinking that the greenrider should have just been thankful for getting
him. After all, he only had a chance at someone like him in a flight.
For the young guy to say he was sorry-sorry for Faranth sake!-he couldn't believe it. He should be saying thanks! "Ummm...don't feel sorry for me greenrider. This is
part of being a rider. I have a brown dragon. I deal with it. It happens." It made him
angry that the greenrider did feel sorry for him. One leap and his trousers were on.

A'dryn wanted to run out of there, but he would need to collect his
clothes first. The only thing worse than staying in here was running
out of the flight room naked. He pulled the furs higher and turned
away from X'pre. "I know it's disgusting."

"You realize you're calling my dragon and I disgusting right?" The older rider
turned and stared at A'dryn, daring him to say more. He was almost to the line.
**Take it and shut up, like a good little greenrider. You know you wanted it.**

"No. _I'm_ disgusting." How could the rider have misunderstood? "Unnatural."

}:Something is wrong?:{ Nalarith's voice was groggy and sated but
carried a hint of concern.

**It's fine, love. Go back to sleep.** She should be able to enjoy
this, even if he couldn't.

"Look, I'm not the one that is waving his hands and saying yay for
male sex, okay? But-you need to think about what you're saying for a minute. Because
you are calling your dragon unnatural and disgusting when you say those things. Because this is something that will happen again because of _her_. So I'd not go down
that road again if I were you." X'pre was a lot of things, but he loved his brown and
he would never say something like that about Carloith. He didn't have to like it,
mind, but he was here. And he wasn't walking around complaining and whining about it. He
pulled on a tunic.

Everything he said just made the brownrider angrier so A'dryn kept
quiet, carefully drawing his knees up and huddling in on himself.

Once he had his things, he left the room wondering why he had the
misfortune of having to deal with the world's stupidest young greenrider. He knew they gave the weyrlings lectures since he'd had them. **Is he thick and just didn't listen?** Shaking his head, he headed to the baths.

Wincing at the pain in his rear, A'dryn moved until he was curled on
his side. How long could he stay here until someone made him leave?
His chest tightened and he let out a choked sob. This was the price he
had to pay for being unnatural, for becoming a rider. He knew he could
get through this, that he could endure, but for now the shame rolled
through him and tears soaked the bedding of the flight cot.
