Description: Sinayric stands at the hatching and Impresses Limentrith.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 10, day 8 of Turn 3

Sinayric was trying his best to be positive when the chaos that was hatching began. There were candidates that ran about as if they had lost their wits and others who were so nervous that they couldn't hold anything down. He donned his white candidate robe and laced up his boots as the sands were too hot to simply wear sandals. He sympathized with the holdbred or hallbred candidates who had never stood before and therefore had nothing other than the cautions and instructions of others to go off of once they entered the hatching cavern.

He remembered the very first time that he had stood for a hatching. He had been so excited and even though he had seen several hatchings since he had come to live with his father, he wasn't prepared for the experience. The eggs hatched so rapidly and the dragonets were likely to knock you over in order to get to the candidate they were searching for. He had left the sands bruised from being knocked over by a large bronze who was trying to reach a boy behind him.

The next hatching he had hovered in the back as far from the eggs as he could get without being too far away to be available to the dragonets. Each hatching he had tried a different tactic in response to the events of the prior hatching. This one would be different, everyone kept telling him that. He didn't know if it was simply in response to the fact that the clutch was that of the new Weyrwoman or something else entirely.

They were ushered onto the Sands and the Weyr was seated around them watching and hoping that their candidate would be one to Impress. To one side, the Weyrlingmaster and staff waited with buckets of chopped meat for the hungry dragonets. The eggs and their proud parents were ahead of him. He edged closer to the middle of the cavern. He wanted to be in the center of things this time. He glanced about the crowd to see if he could spot his family, but he really couldn't see them.

They waited patiently as the eggs rocked and cracked listening to the hum of the dragons. The first shell broke and a bronze appeared. Sinayric watched as Impression was made and the boy led his new lifemate of the Sands. How many times he had watched another do that wishing that it was himself there. A few more eggs cracked and the dragonets found their lifemates.

Suddenly there were several dragons headed in his direction. There was a blue and a lot of pretty greens. He wondered if perhaps the blue was looking for him, but there was another boy closer that the blue seemed to be headed for. There were several girls who Impressed as he watched an enchanting little green that seemed to be heading straight towards him. He wondered if she was the one he had been waiting for.

}:I am Lemintrith.:{ she said stopping before him and looking up at him with the most beautiful eyes he had ever seen.

"Lemintrith! Her name is Lemintrith" he called out with awe and disbelief that she was truly for him. He had dreamed about Impressing, but he had always thought it would be a brown or maybe a blue.

}:Do you not want me?:{ she asked concerned that he should think that.

He blushed and said, "Yes, I want you. You are beautiful, Lemintrith." She nuzzled his leg with her head and he scratched her eyeridge in response.

}:I am hungry! Very hungry.:{ she stated suddenly.

"Oh! Of course, you must be hungry. Come with me and I'll get you something to eat." he said feeling embaressed that he wasn't thinking properly and that was his job to take care of her until she was big enough to catch her own food.

}:I will never leave you.:{ she said in response to his unspoken thoughts of being left alone on the sands.

**I know that now.** he replied remembering that he didn't have to speak out loud to talk to her. He led her off the sands and to the area where the buckets were placed. He had Impressed just as his father had said he would. At least he knew that they would not care that she was green like some families did. They were dragonriders and didn't care that being a male greenrider meant that he liked boys better than women. It explained a lot of things that he had begun to wonder lately.
