K'yne

K'yne

K'yne's dark blue, nearly black, eyes watched the Weyrwoman's every
movement as she entered on the Weyrleader's arm. They shared a customary
toast with the Weyr before the feast began, but all K'yne could do was size
K'reyel up. Was Saibra going to screw up with this Weyrleader the same way
she had with G'nir?

She still wasn't talking to him. This was probably the longest they had
gone without speaking in Turns. Now when K'yne came by to pick Kaibren up
and take him fishing or hunting the Weyrwoman pointedly avoided saying
anything. How long was she going to stay mad at him for scolding her over
the inappropriate behavior with that Candidate?

As the music from the harpers cued up and dancing began, K'yne took a deep
drink from his mug of ale.

Her eyes scanned the crowd and Nokala found herself focusing on a certain
rider that seemed a bit broody. A new Weyrleader was nothing to be broody
about. Privately, she wondered what G'nir himself was going to do but that
wasn't much of her business. The bronzerider would find his way. So the
harper walked up and took another look down at the seated man. "So tall,
light, and handsome, did you want to dance hm?" It was hard to find a man
tall enough to match her long legs at times but he seemed up to the job.

K'yne looked up at Nokala from his mug, pleasantly surprised by her
enticing caramel skin. For a moment Saibra was forgotten as he set aside
his ale and stood beside the woman. "I can never turn down a beautiful
woman's invitation."

"Oh and he's smart too," she quipped before smiling. She twined her fingers
with his and walked with him onto the dance floor. She didn't move for a
few steps, waiting for him to lead her when he found the rhythm. "So...I'm
Nokala. Harper here. And you?"

The brownrider placed a hand to Nokala's hip and easily guided her against
him as he stepped in time to the music. "I am K'yne, rider of brown
Arinoth. It's a pleasure to meet you." She was certainly a pleasant
distraction.

"And you as well. You don't sound like you're from here, though." She was
good at accents so Nokala could usually pick up on something. She lifted
one arm to rest on his shoulder while her other one wrapped around his
back. He was strong and muscled-usual for a rider. His hair, though, that
was a thing to put one's fingers in.

"Ah, good ear. I'm from Far Island, I spent my life there before coming
here." K'yne couldn't help but notice the perfect way Nokala's nubile body
molded to his as they danced.

"So did I. I have a brother who's a rider as well as my father. Life didn't
go that way for me though." Something about him was niggling in her brain
and the harper was trying to place him. Of course once she'd started
crafting she hadn't exactly paid much attention to the others and he seemed
like he was a bit older in turns than she was. His backside was still firm,
though.

K'yne didn't recognize the woman, but there had been a lot of people at Far
Island. "What brought you to Dragonsfall?" he asked as they swayed in time
to the music.

"Needed a change and there was an opening so I took it. Besides, I have my
own office now and everything." She chuckled. "It's pretty here. I did
almost freeze my legs off my first winter though. This one is threatening
to do the same though I've learned about stockings and bedfurs and
sweaters."

"I empathize, I am still getting accustomed to these fleece-lined riding
leathers they wear here." He didn't quite care for the way felt, so heavy
and hot, but it was a necessity to riding in the cold. "If you would like
to escape to a warm beach sometime I'd be more than happy to take you."

"I do believe I would gladly take you up on the offer." She'd gotten a few
rides since coming to Dragonsfall thanks to Tavia and a few others, but it
hadn't been a regularity like she was used to. Of course she could always
ask K'ran probably but Nokala didn't like to impose. A freely given offer,
though, by a brownrider with a voice like that...

The dance ended and K'yne applauded politely with the rest of the dancers.
"Thank you for the dance, milady."

"Oh you're very welcome, K'yne. And should you find yourself wanting to
dance again, well then I do have legs that don't tire easily." She kissed
him lightly on the cheek then found herself heading through the crowd. It
would be time to play soon.
