Saibra

Saibra

}:Orlaith and her rider are here.:{ Chioneth informed Saibra with a
languid, sleepy tone to her slightly raspy voice. The Dragonsfall
senior queen was lounging on her ledge, with Arinoth, to Saibra's
chagrin.

Saibra's head raised, and her hands froze over the territory map she'd
been perusing. **What's she doing?**

}:Vilarth has risen. Nirreth and G'nir are greeting Orlaith and her rider.:{

**Invite Orlaith's rider to visit with us once she is done with
G'nir.** Saibra went back to penciling in the names of the new Lords
and Ladies that had gotten married in their territory over the past
month.

It was sometime later when Rhosyn navigated her way to Saibra's office.
Now that she knew that things were going well with the boy, there wasn't
much else to worry about. Besides that, she wasn't burning to death for once
and the cool air had a marked effect on the small Weyrwoman. She knocked
once then brought her head inside the doorway since Saibra had been
expecting
her.

Saibra answered the door, swinging it open as the corners of her mouth
twitched upwards, "Rhosyn. You've arrived just in time. A drudge just
left us some refreshments if you would care for any." She stood back
and gestured for the River Bluff Weyrwoman to enter.

G'nir had just offered her some, but Rhosyn was not the woman to ever turn
down
food of any sort so she kept her mouth shut. "Oh sure...those little
meatball things
look great. Do they come with any sauce?" Following Saibra inside, she
surveyed the
room and marked the differences made since Hygalia had occupied it. The
changes
were neither good nor bad, just changes. She found a comfortable chair and
settled into
it while leaning over to peruse the refreshments on the table a little
closer.

"They do." Saibra lifted the lid on a container of steaming sauce.
"Did you have a good visit with G'nir?" she asked as she helped
herself to some of the refreshments and then took a seat.

Rhosyn grabbed some of the meatballs and then spread the sauce over them.
It smelled really good. "Oh sure. We talked about the state of the wings and
weyrlings. Dragonsfall seems to be doing better since that small clutch so
that's
good." Rhosyn remembered K'sedel had offered to augment their riders if need
be,
but it had worked itself out until they had just transferred quite a few
riders when
Hygalia had left.

"I'm thinking that is going to become the average number of eggs now
for Dragonsfall Queens. If you think about it, three adult golds all
clutching around thirty eggs in such a close cycle will produce a lot
of new riders for us. Luckily, we have room for growth." Saibra
enjoyed some of the meatballs as well.

"How are things with Lanniya going?" She inquired after the youngest
goldrider at River Bluff.

Rhosyn didn't have three adult golds so her mind went down different
avenues.
However, she was happy for the new Dragonsfall Weyrwoman to have more
security since times had been different in the past. "Her first between
didn't go so
well but the weyrlingstaff is working with her to curb her impulsiveness.
She's
young, but I'm hoping we can instill some discipline before she graduates to
my
wing. I'm still working on getting Lenala to be more independent and it'll
be hard
if I have to watch the both of them and do my duties since Vilarth will be
grounded
in a bit. Probably doesn't help that she wasn't weyrbred and she had a very
short candidacy."

Saibra nodded understandingly, "She is a very... interesting girl, I
must say. For gold Weyrlings especially I always hope for an older,
more mature candidate. Dragonsfall was lucky with Genna, she's been a
dream. I was young and impulsive when I impressed Chioneth so there's
hope for Lanniya yet."

The Dragonsfall Weyrwoman brought her cup to her lips, and then arched
an eyebrow. "What is Lenala's story, anyway? I must admit that I do
not know much about her."

"Oh certainly Genna does seem to be a very wonderful young lady." Rhosyn
liked her though the young goldrider was far different from where she had
been
at her turns. "I was young when I Impressed as well and impulsive but it was
different. I had been living at the Weyr for some turns and I had more
knowledge
about the world. Lanniya seems to have ideas about things that aren't suited
to
practicality. I was hoping with some age it would get better...Plus she can
hear
the dragons like Briata can so I thought maybe we could use that somehow. I
still
wish Briata would have Stood."

Hearing the change in subject, Rhosyn crossed her legs and reached for a
piece
of roll. "Lenala was raised to be a Holder's wife, but she was brought in
for a gold
egg instead and then Impressed. Unfortunately, she couldn't shift from her
holder
lessons and adjust to the Weyr quickly enough. She Impressed about four
turns behind
me at Vista Point so I wasn't seasoned enough to help with her training. And
then she
transferred sometime after. She came to River Bluff with Tsaera and didn't
control Vilarth
well once. There was a small clutch and Tsaera tried to push her to get
serious."

Not knowing how well Saibra knew Tsaera and how she did things, Rhosyn
tried to find a way to shorten the rest of the story. "Lenala was afraid of
Tsaera and
didn't respond well. So things went and then Zharesti came in for a short
time. Then
I came in. Of course we had known each other briefly before and I'm closer
in
turns to her. So I've been working with her, getting her to take
responsibility. So far
so good and I'm surprised at how different she is in so short a time but
there's still work
there to be done."

"Wow. I remember Tsaera coming back to River Bluff while you were
pregnant but I hadn't heard tale of what kind of Weyrwoman she had
been. I'm glad you've been able to help Lenala. I'm lucky that Teseada
is as well grounded as she is since she's seen the full rotation of
Weyrwomen through this place." Saibra shook her head thinking about
the way Hygalia had left.

Rhosyn had liked Hygalia until she'd up and left like the others so that
brought on a bit of memory before she took a drink and set down the cup.
"Tsaera was a good Weyrwoman, but she and Lenala just didn't...well anyway.
And she did help us out when we needed it. We write letters sometimes."
A few moments passed quietly almost as if Rhosyn was sizing Saibra up.
Vista Point and Far Island had shared territory so she had come across the
older goldrider before recent turns though they had never really chatted at
length. Surprisingly, she found she didn't mind it at all. "I don't really
know
what was in Hygalia's head to be honest. I mean...after what happened with
Traelyn and Janani and...I liked her. And then she just up and went.
Strange."

Saibra shook her head, "It is very strange. I don't have a particular
emotional attachment to Dragonsfall at this point, but I still can't
imagine leaving knowing people are depending on me." She shrugged her
shoulders.

"It's a matter of duty, aye." That was her feeling on the matter and the
main reason
why she stayed at River Bluff at first. That was what being a Weyrwoman
meant.
Quiet for a bit, she was content to sit and eat with Saibra. She didn't know
her as well
as Cyradis but she wasn't uncomfortable around her either. "Well, I'll
probably be stuck
here for the next few hours. Maybe I can find someone to play dragonpoker
with..."

The Dragonsfall Weyrwoman smiled, "I know some people who would be
more than happy to deal you in."
