Description: Chaysea assists Asley as she returns to Dolphin Cove.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 12, day 8 of Turn 7
Sailing had been harder than it had been before. This time she hadn't
been travelling with her brother. This time she had been forced to
stay in her cabin most of the time. Thankfully, it had only taken a
few days. Stepping outside of the ship, she was eager to grab her
things and get herself a bath and into a nice bed. Looking around,
Asley tried to remember what the Weyr had been like when she'd left
it. It hadn't been that long ago really, had it?
Sighing, she made her way from the water to the entrance to the Lower
Caverns. Hopefully they were expecting her. She knew a message had
been sent, after all.
Chaysea spotted the craft knots on the unfamiliar girl's shoulder
immediately. When she had first arrived at Dolphin Cove Chaysea had
been worried that she would never be able to remember all of the
people there, much less know their names. After months, however,
Chaysea had come to realize that even if she did not personally know
_everyone's_ names, she did know a lot of them, and she recognized
many faces. This was a face that she did not know, and therefore,
possibly the printer she'd been told would arrive.
Normally Chaysea would have had one of her assistants handle greeting
and familiarizing a crafter, after all, a Headwoman had a lot of
things on her plate, and typically Chaysea only personally greeted
Masters when they arrived at the Weyr. But, today Chaysea's assistant
was sick, and Faranth only knew where Ikalis had gotten off to, **That
girl's into everything.**
"Journeywoman Asley?" She asked.
The blonde head turned and regarded the woman with headwoman knots.
This was not the headwoman she had known while at Dolphin Cove. **Hmm
changes I suppose** Walking forward slowly, she nodded. "Yes that's
me." She just needed to be pointed in the right direction really. She
still remembered where things were. Although there was the matter of
supplies to be discussed for the future.
"There were notes left about you from the previous Headwoman." Chaysea
informed her. "Your old quarters are still available, and we've not
had anyone actively in the printer's workshop since you left."
**Curious.** Asley knew they hadn't been able to take all of the
equipment to the hall. According to some of the others, the only press
left at the Weyr was a small one. That would do for her needs, though.
Her old quarters had been in the apprentice cots so with her new rank,
she didn't really prefer that if possible. "I was hoping to move into
something else, if possible. The workshop will be fine, though. Do
you...Who would I see about supplies?" **Of course I need active
orders first, but if I had them, I'd need the things to fill them
with.**
"The Weyrharper will take any request for supplies that you may have,
he also would have a more accurate account of the harper supplies that
are already in storage. I can show you the journeyman quarters that we
have available, if you would like?" Chaysea offered.
"Please mam." Asley had never set foot there before so this was going to be
a new experience. With her fortunes changed, she wondered just how much
else had changed around here. With a new headwoman after so many turns,
clearly quite a bit.
"This way, then." Chaysea spun on her heel, her long skirts whirling
about her ankles as she led the way toward the crafter quarters, the
keys attached to her waistband jingling lightly as she moved.
Wondering quietly whether or not everything was going to work out, Asley
chided herself. This was what she had wanted-away from the Hall. She wanted
her freedom again. **It's going to work out.**
Stopping by one of the empty journeyman's quarters, Chaysea unlocked
the door with one of her keys and pushed it open, "Why don't you take
a look and tell me if this will work for you?" she said, motioning for
Asley to venture into the room first.
Immediately the differences between the apprentice cot and these quarters
were apparent. It wasn't much larger but the furnishings were slightly more
comfortable. Asley understood she didn't need much. She wasn't married and
she didn't have children as some did so she was grateful. She was the
first printer to come back to the Weyr since the Hall had moved.
Moving inside, the tall girl poked around a few things and then turned
back to Chaysea. "This will do."
"Excellent." Chaysea jotted down Asley's name and the corresponding
room number to add to her map when she returned to her office. "Is
there anything else I can assist you with, or shall I leave you to get settled?"
"I'll be fine thanks." Relishing the opportunity for the first time in
days to be alone
in a quiet room for a good long while, Asley as considering sleeping
before unpacking and readying herself to have a look at her workspace
and the stored equipment.
