Cosani set her tray down at a mostly empty table and took a long drink
of her juice before digging into her meal.
It had been a long day. E'rae was slowly picking through his food. Then
he saw his wingmate sit down. She looked hungry. So he didn't bother
her until she had slowed down some. "You were running weren't you?"
"Mmm?" She looked over and saw who it was. "Oh. Yeah."
She had been one of the ones that had offered to show him the ropes
when he'd been first come here and he hadn't forgotten that. Now that
time had gone by and he'd gotten more comfortable, he supposed he could
extend an olive branch. "What's your best time around the Bowl?"
"Five minutes, give or take a few seconds." She took another bite from
her half-empty plate.
He nodded to himself and picked up a piece of bread, chewing. Decent time.
She was attractive and there had been that Flight. **Are you ready?** He didn't
want to burden her, though, when the reality was that he was still messed up.
No one could tell him how to fix it though so maybe he would just be that way
for the rest of his life. "What else do you have planned today?" She looked like
she might be having a bath soon, after all.
She shrugged. "Usual stuff. I have messenger duty for a few
candlemarks and I need to start on a new set of straps." But first, a
long soak in a bathing pool.
"Oh well...sounds like loads of fun." He could probably run messages if he
wanted, but E'rae didn't need the extra marks. He also didn't need new straps.
With so much time alone lately, he'd gotten most of his chores caught
up well into
the future.
She snorted, took a bite, swallowed. "Wait... are you being mopey again?"
"Well...no....a good friend of mine came some time ago to see me and I guess
it brought up a lot of stuff. The mindhealer isn't much of a help so far." He
shrugged, not exactly wanting to go into his entire personal history to bore her
to death. "Wish I could have joined you on the run. Looks like it was
a good workout."
She shrugged. "I just wanted it over with before it got any hotter."
She wiped cooling sweat from her forehead. "I know I should've taken a
bath first, but I was too sharding hungry."
"Well if you're thinking of one, I might join you." He wasn't opposed to washing
a girl's back for her, after all.
Ah, so that's what he was after. He'd been... adequate after her
flight but Cosani wasn't interested in adequate. "I'm not looking for
company. Just a quick wash before my afternoon duties."
He had to admit-the rejection stung. It wasn't something he had been
expecting really, especially since it had been his first real attempt at
initiating contact besides a flight situation since everything had happened.
It made him want to go find a hole somewhere and crawl into it, forgetting
sex existed. He got up quickly, then, and turned to leave with his tray in his
hands. He suddenly lost his appetite. "Good luck with your duties," was all he
could manage as he disappeared.
A little sigh escaped her as she watched him go. He was probably off
to mope somewhere and it wasn't _her_ job to cheer him up. If he
wanted a woman, he could go find someone else.
