K'mai

K'mai

This time, she didn't go to his weyr to find him. She'd called the bluerider to her office. Rhosyn had realized that morning that the Dragonsfall hatching would likely be soon what with the timing. This time she would be required to attend unless she sent Lenala. She hadn't been to any for some time due to the pregnancy and everything else. Now Saibra was in control there, not Hygalia. She still didn't know the other rider well despite having to fly fall with Dragonsfall over their shared boundary.

She also remembered how she'd felt at her own Hatching and knew that a certain bronzerider would likely be at this one. Still, Rhosyn had decided that was over. To do this, though, she'd need someone to distract her. She needed someone to make her laugh and dance with her. One face came to mind. Besides, she was sure that tongues would wag and she was ready to be talked about it again. Let them think her outrageous. She had behaved for far too long.

K'mai was just the tiniest bit nervous, but he hid it with a smile as he entered the office. "You wanted to see me, Weyrwoman?" He went with her title as the safe bet, not sure if this was a formal visit or not. Although that desk gave him ideas...

"Aye bluerider. You see...there is to be a Hatching at Dragonsfall in a sevenday. I find myself without an escort. You came to mind." She didn't say why because she had her reasons. Maybe she'd tell him and maybe she wouldn't.

One of his eyebrows arched. "Me?" Then he smiled slow, teasing. "Don't tell me you're getting attached."

"Well most of the bronzeriders in this Weyr are either weyrmated or have other things to worry about and I don't know many of the brownriders so hey-why not a bluerider? Better than asking someone who isn't even a River Bluff rider. I'd never
hear the end of that." She rolled her eyes and shuffled her fingers on the wood of the desk, wondering if he'd say yes. It was an honor to be asked, really.

"So you want me to come with you because I'm the least objectionable choice? How flattering." His smile stayed. Rhosyn certainly wasn't one for buttering people up.

"There's also the fact that I do enjoy your company and you're fun. Besides I'm going to need distracting." She shrugged, not really wanting to go into her personal problems. She didn't need the rest of the Weyr knowing half the time she was one step away from ripping her hair out.

"That's more like it." He laughed and wiggled his eyebrows. "I am very good at distracting."

"Does that mean you're going with me? Cause if not I need to be asking someone else. Only so much time you know..." She might have taken offense to his wiggling if he didn't have an uncanny ability to make her smile which she was doing a little bit more of lately. **Too bad he rides blue. Ah well.**

"It would be an honor to escort you, Weyrwoman." K'mai bowed.

"Lovely. We need to see Briata to get you clothed then." Getting up and pulling him for just a moment, she seemed relieved. That was one less thing to worry about. **Blueriders are really an obliging lot, aren't they? I should have noticed this sooner.**

"I get fancy new clothes out of this? My, my. I've been missing out." Impulsively, he gave her a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Can't have you representing your Weyr looking like a pauper." She tolerated his behavior since for the moment he was doing what she wanted him to. **So much to do and so little time.** She'd almost forgotten that to see Briata meant to see her daughter.
