K'mai

K'mai

K'mai loved the floating, sated feeling of waking up after a flight
and it was always better when he found himself next to a friend.
"Riven," he murmured, brushing his fingers along her arm.

The greenrider stretched out long and slow, feeling satisfaction thrumming
through her body like never before, almost doubled. She blinked once,
twice, trying to disentangle the sensations and remember the context.
Right - Savith's flight. Her first.

"Hmm...hey there, handsome."

"I take it you're pleased with Savith's choice?" he said, lightly teasing.

"I am indeed. Rather a friend than a stranger," she agreed. "I didn't
realize just how nice it was when it's shared with your dragon - and I
thought just grabbing a loser was fun!"

"Mmm, yes. It's _much_ better when you're involved." His fingers
trailed a little lower.

"I'm glad to have first-hand knowledge, then." She wondered what it would
be like if greens rose more often, realized it would be very distracting
if that was true. How did male riders get anything done? They could
chase more often - though of course they weren't guaranteed the win.

"She was a little early," she realized.

"Greens go up when they're ready." He made idle patterns along her hip
and thigh.

"Well I guess she's precocious." The green weyrling arched towards his
fingers, and her own hand caressed his chest.

One eyebrow quirked upwards. "Like her rider?"

"Nah, I took forever to amount to anything." The words were
self-deprecating but her tone was light. "I guess she wants to make up
for something."

"Neither of you has anything to make up for." He pulled her closer.
"And Savith certainly has good taste."

She laughed and shifted against him, unwilling to leave the flightroom
yet when there was more to enjoy and she had a legitimate reason to
not have to rush off. "That she does. As do we both. And I don't have
anything to get to if you don't..."

K'mai grinned. "Even if I did, I'd stay here with you anyway." He
leaned over for a kiss.

"I'm all for that," she said, before responding ardently to the kiss
and pulling him against her. Yes, it would be nice if greenflights
were a little more often...

"Ah, I do love -- ahem -- 'catching' up with friends," K'mai said with
a lazy smile.

"We'll have to do it again to celebrate graduation," she suggested.

"Ooh, yes." He trailed his fingers along her arm. "That's coming up
fast, isn't it?"

"Less than a month. Blooding in two sevendays." Or so she estimated.
"Who knows, maybe I'll be delivering you some firestone."

That put a little crimp in his mood. It wasn't unusual for one or more
weyrlings to die during Blooding. "Just don't let this magnificent
specimen of manhood distract you if you do."

"I'll save that for afterwards. Throw a party. admire you then." It
wouldn't be the first time a graduating class drank down at the beach and
danced around a fire to celebrate.

K'mai laughed. "I like that plan."

"It'll be a date then," she said with a winning smile in return.

He put an arm around her, fingers drawing little patterns on her lower
back. "How are things going?"

"I'm a lot less tired than I was the first few months," she told him. "I
thought I was never going to sleep more than a wink."

"I remember those days. Each day seemed like it would never end, but
looking back the whole thing seemed to fly by. One day I could carry
Sebeth in my arms and then I blink and he's big enough to carry me."
The blue was currently sleeping, happily curled around his mate.

"I can't believe she's this big, either. She was so little when she
cracked shell. And now - well, she's still kinda little for a green."
She'd been so tiny and weak. And now she was still small-sized, even
as she was close to full grown.

"She flew well enough." He kept tracing his fingers along her skin.
K'mai loved sex but he liked this, too. Lying together with a friend,
chatting, enjoying simple physical contact.

"That's another thought - we should do a race sometime, just for the
fun of it," she suggested.

"So you can win?" he asked with a laugh.

"Or Sebeth could use his experience to surprise her again, and you could."

"Will there be prizes?" He wiggled his eyebrows.

"I could give you a massage at the end. Got ideas for other ones?"

K'mai leaned over and whispered a suggestion in her ear.

She shivered slightly. "I'm for it. You'll have to let me know when's
convenient."

"I'll pick a restday and let you know." He kissed her. "I suppose we
can't stay in here all day." Much as he would like to.

"I suppose not," she agreed after their lips parted. "But thanks for
staying for a bit...it was nice to get to really catch up."

"Always a pleasure." He gave her another quick kiss before getting up.
