Time Alone

Writers: Avery, Heather
Date Posted: 7th October 2014

Characters: Chaysea, L'pin
Description: L'pin wants to spend some time getting even closer to the gorgeous Headwoman.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 9, day 1 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: Jylanya

Chaysea could not help but think about L'pin as she went about her
day. A part of her wanted to cling to the values that she had carried
her entire life regarding sex. Which meant waiting for L'pin to marry
her, and that wasn't going to happen, or to weyrmate her, and who knew
if _that_ would ever happen either. The other part of her enjoyed
being with the gentle bluerider so much that she did not understand
why she was waiting. It wasn't as if she were not a grown woman, a
widow even, so it was not as if she would be shamed or ruined.

Realizing that she was staring at her plate of food and not eating it,
the Headwoman shook her head and twirled her fork in the noodles on
her plate. She rarely ate in the Dining Cavern, but had decided to do
so that evening for an opportunity to get out of her office.

The weyrlings had eaten their meal and were being supervised, so L'pin
finally had time for dinner. Shards, but he'd forgotten how much work they
were - not that that was all bad. He took a plate of the spiced fish and a
large mug of juice, then looked around for someone to sit with.

He wasn't expecting to see Chaysea, but he headed over there the minute he
spotted her. "Is this seat taken, m'lady?"

Chaysea jumped a bit at the sound of L'pin's voice. Had she summoned
him with her thoughts? "Of course it is. I have this wonderful
bluerider, he helps with the Weyrlings you know, and I am pretty sure
he will want to sit here beside me." She flashed him a teasing smile.

"Well, if I see one around, I'll have to let him have the seat," he said
as he slipped into it, giving her a broad grin.

"That is a good decision. He might get jealous." She winked as she found
herself involuntarily gravitating closer to L'pin on the long bench.

"Then I'll have to fend him off." L'pin gave her a kiss on the cheek and
then reached for her hand and held it gently. "So how was your day?"

Chaysea lifted her shoulders and tilted her head, "It was good, aside
from a crying Weyrling who had to cut her long hair after her new
lifemate accidentally tugged a chunk out with her talons." She shook
her head and held up a hand, "I cannot even begin to picture how that
really happened."

"Was that Satai?" he asked after a moment. "We tell them and tell them
that longer hair is dangerous, wait till they've graduated."

"Yes, I think she had planned on getting it cut but she waited too
long. Now because of that incident it is much shorter than she had
ever imagined." Chaysea chuckled a little.

"Poor girl." He wondered briefly what he could do for her, made a note
to Chaneth to keep an eye on her green. "I'm glad your day was well
otherwise."

"Aye," Chaysea pushed a bit of food around on her plate, before
looking up at L'pin, "what are your plans for the evening?"

"Assuming no terrible interruptions, and by the way I'm not on the night
watch schedule, I was hoping to spend it with the prettiest lady in the
Weyr."

"Well," Chaysea flashed him a grin, "when you are finished with her
maybe you can stop by and visit me."

Now was the moment to suggest... "I'd like to spend rather a lot of the
night with you, actually," he said, leaning in closer so their business
wouldn't be shared.

A wild flutter erupted in the pit of her stomach as she lifted her
lashes to survey him with her bright green eyes, "Oh really?" What
Jylanya had said to her about dragonmen only wanting one thing, and
her advice to avoid them came ringing back with vicious clarity,
threatening to dampen the excitement she had felt just a moment
earlier.

"As far as is alright with you," he added quickly. "But you are very
beautiful and I want to show appreciation."

Chaysea couldn't look in to L'pin's eyes and believe that he was
trying to manipulate her. He had been very honest with her every step
of the way so far in their relationship. "I would like that then."

Heedless of the fact they were in public, he leaned forward and kissed
her cheek. "Excellent. I'll stop by after lights-out then."

"See you then." Chaysea agreed as she leaned into his kiss.
