--------------
Saranni removed the belt with the metal rings the flight straps had
latched onto and handed it up to the greenrider who had brought her
from Coral Bay Hold to Emerald Falls. "Thank you for the smooth ride,
Ulouth," she gave the foreleg of the dragon a light pat with her
gloved hand. "And you as well, Y'went."

Her father had sent her to the main Hold at Coral Bay via coach and
had arranged for a dragon to bring her here, where she would live for
the foreseeable future. She had only a one small trunk with her at the
moment, which the greenrider was unclipping from his dragon's harness.
The rest of her belongings were travelling via mail coach and would
arrive in the next few days, if they ran according to schedule. She
hoped they did, as she only had a few changes of clothing in her
trunk.

Y'went handed the trunk down to a waiting drudge who held it easily
and waited by the door. She thanked the greenrider again and gave him
a couple of extra marks. Her father had already paid, but it really
-had- been a smooth flight. She hadn't felt afraid at all, despite it
being her first time in the air. If she needed the service again, she
hoped this rider would volunteer, knowing she was generous with tips.

After the dragon and rider left, she smoothed her skirts and turned
toward the young man who'd taken hold of her trunk. "Do you know where
Headwoman Jayzine might be at this hour?" She would need to present
herself and her letters of introduction to the Headwoman to find out
where she would be lodged in the Hold.

Jayzine never failed to know when a dragon visited the hold. If
nothing else the drums would tell her or Miyon would come running in
from wherever he'd been to tell her. So it wasn't long after the green
touched down that Jayzine came out of the door of the Hold. "Welcome,"
she called with a smile.

Hearing the voice, Saranni turned toward the nearby door and the woman
who spoke. "Headwoman Jayzine?" she asked, just to make sure, but
there could be little doubt. Saranni was happy that the Headwoman had
come to greet her. It spoke well of how the woman managed the Hold and
it saved herself the effort of tracking her down.

"How was the trip," Jayzine asked. "Is this all your luggage?" It
seemed awfully light for a quality young lady.

"I didn't want to overburden the dragon with too much luggage. I sent
the rest of my things ahead before I left, they should be arriving in
a few days. What I have packed here will hold me until then." Saranni
explained before adding, "And the trip was marvelous. I had never been
flying before this. I can understand why some look for any excuse to
request a transport." She finished with a small grin, unable to hide
her delight.

Jayzine's normally severe expression lightened visibly. She did
understand how it felt to fly, mostly with her arms around K'ran but
that was beside the point now. "It's a lovely feeling isn't it," she
smiled and motioned the drudge to carry the trunk inside the hold.
"Put it in the blue room," she nodded to him. "Are you cold," she
asked. "Would you like some tea?"

"Tea would be lovely, thank you." She filed the change in expression
away for the future, it would be good to make friends with the
Headwoman - whether or not her venture was successful, and it was
clear she had a favorable opinion of being a dragonback. Not that
Saranni felt differently, even after just one ride.

"This way," Jayzine said and headed into the warmth of the Hold proper
and then into the ladies solar where there was always tea and other
refreshments. "This is the Ladies Solar. The sun comes right through
those windows in the afternoon making this a very pleasant place for
needlework or letter-writing."

Saranni gave the spacious room an appreciative look. There were a few
ladies seated together in a small group near one of the windows,
obviously sewing and chatting. It was a very cozy scene and she liked
it. "This is nice," she smiled at the Headwoman. "I quite enjoy
embroidery myself."

"Then I'm sure you'll find companionship here," she nodded with her
normal serious expression. "The tea is this way," she led the way to
the sideboard where a little flame kept the teapot warm. There were
also some small tea sandwiches, a vegetable tray, and meat rolls.

Saranni helped herself to some refreshments, selecting a few of the
small sandwiches as well as some of the tea. She added a bit of
sweetener to the lightly steaming liquid in her cup as well.

"Would you like me to come back to show you to your room in an hour or
so," Jayzine asked.

"That would be fine, thank you." Saranni smiled and then made her way
to a seat that afforded a nice view of the rest of the room, where she
could observe the comings and goings.

"Of course," she nodded and turned to leave. She hated the Hold.
