T'lat

Talwynn liked watching the weyrlings, and if she was going to be a guest
lecturer for this class, she wanted to get to know them a little better.
She was finishing up Riveth when it was time for the evening bath for the
weyrlings. A pretty little green was next to hers, and she made a discreet
inquiry before hailing the rider.

"Hi T'lat," she said.

"Hello," the boy said a little shyly. He wasn't really familiar with
the other greenrider so just a little hesitant.

}:Who is it mine:{ Faucheth shook water from her wings after rinsing
and approached the other green to try and touch noses with her in
greeting.

Riveth leaned down and touched noses with the smaller green. }:Hello there.:{

"How are classes going?" Talwynn asked encouragingly.

"She's a lot of work that's for sure, but I expected that." He'd lived
in the Weyr all his life and been raised to know how much work there
was to being a dragonrider. "I'm enjoying them very much."

}:Will I be as big as you?:{ Faucheth asked the other green.

}:You very well might,:{ Riveth said. }:Especially if you eat a lot of
herdbeast.:{

"I remember being exhausted," she reminisced. "I think they pushed us
harder because of Onnyth."

}:Do I like hearbeast:{ she asked her rider with a tilt of her head.

**Yes, love** he smiled and shook his head.

"I know I'll get though it," he smiled. "and some things will get
easier and others harder as she grows. But I wouldn't have it any
other way."

"Do you like most of your classmates? Good relationships make it easier."

"I do," he smiled. "Some of them aren't so friendly with me but I
expect thats 'cuz they're..." he shrugged. "Not blueriders."

She winced. "They'll have to shape up now that they're weyrfolk."

"I hope so," he smiled. "But I have a couple of friends so that makes
it a little easier." He wasn't going to pretend to anyone that he was
any different than he was just because they happened to be from the
Hold. "And Faucheth is wonderful." He glowed with dragon rider pride.

"There you go, then. So what's your favorite part of classes?"

}:More scrubbing. Less talking.:{ Riveth nudged at her rider.

"Oh I like it all," the young greenrider answered with a smile. "But
then I'm a Harper and just like to learn. But the dragonhealer was
very interesting."

"I guess this is rather a change, then," she mused.

"Oh of course," he said while he scrubbed. "But not unexpected. I was
raised here so, I kind of knew what I was in for when I Stood. It's
still amazing that she chose me though," he added with a silly grin.

"Yeah, it's a great feeling, isn't it? And you've got really good
Weyrlingmasters," she added.

"Oh yes," he gushed as the vision of J'darin rose up in his mind. He
gave and exaggerated sigh there was no chance at all with a bronzrider
other than a flight.

She was thinking of D'kere, but didn't want to say anything to anyone who
it might be inappropriate to - and his students were definitely on that
list.

"I might wind up volunteering for your class, but even if they don't call
me in...If you have any questions, feel free to talk to me, okay?" she
decided to offer.

"Sometimes the riders of the bigger colors just don't get what greens are
like."

"They're so serious," he shook his head. "The brown and bronzriders
especially. But blueriders are more fun. Greens are the best though. Faucheth is
just so happy all the time."

That got a laugh out of her. "Certainly! I'm very glad I'm not a goldrider."

He grinned at her, "and I'm very glad I'm not one of those
bronzeboys." He sent Faucheth back into the water to rinse

"Greenrider pride forever," she said with an answering smile.

"I should stop bothering you," she said after Riveth nudged at her again.
"But it was good to meet you, and I wish you the best of luck with
weyrlinghood."

"Good to meet you too," he smiled.
