Word."

Thank the Ancients he was finally over that damned winter fever. He could
finally think clearly and finish the apology he owed his friend. It had
been nearly done when he got sick, and in all honesty, he could have sent
it much sooner, but he wanted it to be perfect, especially since he was
terrible at apologies.

What he was good at was expressing himself musically, so he had written it
in a song. Now he was going over it one more time to make sure it would
work.

"What do I have to do to help you see me?
I was just trying to show brotherly care.
Life doesn't fill me as completely
When I look to find that you're not there.

What can I do to make you want peace?
What have I got to do to be heard?
What do I say in misunderstandings,
When sorry seems to be the hardest word?

It's sad (so sad), so sad,
It's a sad, sad situation;
And it's getting more and more absurd.
It's sad (so sad), so sad;
Why can't we talk it over?
It appears to me that sorry is the hardest word.

Is there a way you can forgive me?
Is this now enough to be heard?
It was the best I could do this neatly
When sorry seems to be the hardest word."

Fewmits. It really was the best he could do. Aluka muttered in annoyance,
signed the note, and tied up the hide. Now he just needed to find Tavia
again, along with some meat, to get the note delivered.

He really hoped it would work. Not having one of his few friends to talk to
more often was generating uncomfortable emotions that were hard to deal
with.
