Aileyan walked further into the room.
"Is that really little Aileyan? She looks...I mean...wow!" M'shan
couldn't' help but stare her with disbelief. He gave his wingmate a
little nudge.
"Shards," N'call said. "I've never see _her_ dress like that." He
snapped his mouth shut realizing he had it open. Then he quickly
crossed the room and grabbed a drink for her then walked up to her
with a smile. "Hey," he smiled. "Would you like this?"
"Yes, thank you," Aileyan replied and accept the glass. She gave him a
smile that have a hint of vulnerability beneath it.
He felt the strangeness in the way she was behaving but with the way
she looked tonight that wasn't the first thing on his mind. He put an
arm around her to guide her to the table he'd been sharing with
M'shan. "You certainly look good tonight Aileyan."
"Thank's. You're looking good yourself," Aileyan was doing her best to flirt.
"Hey, Aileyan, nice outfit," M'shan greeted. They had been wingmates
before she was moved to the queen's wing.
"I'd heard you'd been in the infirmary," N'call smiled. "But I think
the guys around here are the ones going to need a healer after seeing
you tonight. You look incredible." He sipped at his drink wondering
why he never remembered her looking this way before.
"I'm..unattached right now and decided to show it," Aileyan answered.
"Unattached," N'call threw a quickly raised eyebrow at M'shan. Aileyan
had always been quiet and kept to herself. He could honestly say he
knew next to nothing about her other than she'd been one of U'kaiah's
women. He didn't want to ask her outright what she was looking for. He
recognized a greenrider on the prowl, but this one was different,
almost timid.
"Would you like something to eat?"
"Sure I do," she replied, although she wasn't sure she could get
anything to her stomach. Trying to remember how those other, flirtier
greenriders acted, she placed her hand in his arm.
M'shan watched it and felt bit jealous. Why did the bronzeriders
always get the prettiest girls?
He smiled at the touch and motioned for the server to bring them some
finger foods and more drinks. He placed his hand over hers.
"So what brings you here tonight Aileyan," he asked curiously.
"I long for the company," Aileyan replied with slight shrug. She had
been pretty much cooped up in her weyr for the past month.
"Then let us help you have some fun," N'call smiled and stroked her
fingers. "Come on," he said standing up and pulled her up. The harpers
were playing a nice slow tune so he pulled her into his arms and began
to dance.
Aileyan nodded and followed his lead. He was nice and good looking and
it was easy to fall in to the rhythm of the dance.
M'shan watched them go and with disappointed sigh, went to look some
other company.
N'call threw a look at his friend when he walked away. He was and he
wasn't sorry for stealing the girl but he'd make it up to him later.
For now, he was concentrating on the sweet woman in his arms. He
wasn't the greatest of dancers but he was adequate and enjoyed
himself. He let his hands wander just a little bit to gauge her
willingness for more.
Aileyan pressed closer to him, encouraging him. If she closed her
eyes, she could pretend he was U'kaiah.
The dance ended and he spoke softly as he led her back toward the
table. "Do you want to get out of here?"
"Yes," Aileyan answered with a look with fire in it. Her body craved
for intimacy.
His eyes widened at the look she threw him. "Then we're out," he said
picking up her hand and curving it around his own. Then he lifted her
fingers to his lips and smiled and led her into the night and his
weyr.
