Description: Ga'vin and Xalanyth transfer to Dragonsfall Weyr
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 10, day 14 of Turn 3
"Well, Xalan my lad...That's about it." Ga'vin stood in the empty weyr, hands on his hips and made one las idiot-check to see if he'd left anything behind. The place was nigh well spotless, empty, and looked nothing like the home it had been for the past handful of years.
}: Good. Have you the transfer letters?:{ Xalanyth lay laden and sunning on the ledge, his riders minimal ammoutn of baggage already attached to the riding straps.
"I have them. And since I'd made my farewells last night...We can be off if you could rouse your lazy hide and work up the energy for flying!" He walked out onto the ledge, smiling at the memory of the farewell his wing-mates had given. His head ought to have been absolutely throbbing from the imminent hangover, had he not covertly watered the wine his friends had insisted upon bringing to his weyr while he was carefully trying to pack last night. He knew the lot of them would be absolutely miserable in drills today. He almost felt sorry for them. Almost.
}: I was just waiting on you. And resting my eyes.... :{ "Sure you were, my lad. Let me just check my instruments again..."
}: You've checked them three times this morning and six times last night. I think they are just fine. :{ Xalanyth closed his eyes again.
This was going to take a while.
"Well, I have to be sure they make the trip, right? They are delicate, you know."
}: Yes, dear, I know. :{ "Alright! Alright you big blue lump. Let's go. But if they're damaged...you owe me." Ga'vin gave a good natured slap to the shining blue hide.
}:And here I was looking forward to a nap.:{ Xalanyth rumbled and rose, bending his leg for his rider to mount. }:Shall we? :{ "Let's go!" And with that, they went.
~*~
}:There's a new rider arriving.:{ Treadoryth announced as his rider was scrubbing a particularly itchy patch of skin.
**Why do I let you talk me into bathing you in the middle of the day?** the Weyrleader asked with a shake of his head. He had been expecting the rider later in the day, but he had gotten used to things happening when he was the least prepared for them.
}:Because you've been distracted lately.:{ the bronze replied before wading farther into the water to rinse off. Once he was clean, Treadoryth shook off the excess water and began to make his way towards his ledge to sun.
**Before you go too far, will you give me a lift to the weyr? I need to dry off and change clothes before I go meet the new transfer. Please tell their dragon that I will be there in a few moments.** D'wrayt said as he climbed upon his bronze's neck.
}:Done.:{ the bronze said amused.
~*~
}: The Weyrleader will see you in a moment. :{ Xalanyth relayed dutifully before landing on one of the sunning ledges.
**Thank you.** Ga'vin was waiting in the hall outside the Weyrleader's office, transfer papers in hand. He ran a hand through his disheveled hair, trying to make the blond mess at least presentable.
It wasn't long before D'wrayt came striding down the hallway. There was a blond headed young man standing outside his doorway who must be the new transfer. "Hello, you must be Ga'vin. I'm D'wrayt. Welcome to Dragonsfall."
he said with a smile as he approached.
Ga'vin turned, then bowed to the approaching Weyrleader. "Honored to meet you, Weyrleader. And glad for a change of scenery." He smiled and offered the man his letters of transfer.
"You can call me D'wrayt. Let's go into my office. Would you like some redfruit juice or kah?" he asked opening the door for the young man.
"Klah would be fine. Thank you." Ga'vin stepped inside.
"You're quite welcome." he replied as he strode over to get them both a mug of klah. It was his favorite drink and the staff kept a fresh pot in his office most of the time. He handed Ga'vin one of the mugs and sat down across from him.
"You'll be flying with Cyan wing under U'kaiah. Have you met Subayle, our headwoman yet?" D'wrayt asked curious to know if she had learned of the bluerider's arrival yet. Usually she had met them and given them a weyr before he even had a chance to know they had arrived.
"I have not met her yet. Xalanyth and I felt it best to introduce ourselves to you and Treadoryth first," Ga'vin said.
"She'll be able to get you a weyr and make sure you have everything you need. I'm surprised she didn't hear that you were waiting for me and come introduce herself. Do you have any questions?"
"Not particularly. Although I would like to point out that Xalanyth is very good at Searching. It is all there in our paperwork. And I suppose I ought to make an appointment with my Wingleader in addition to the Headwoman." He grinned. "It's going to be a busy day."
"We can always use more searchriders. I'll make a note of that. Don't hesitate to have Xalanyth contact me if there is anything I can do to help you as you get used to the Weyr." D'wrayt said with a grin. It looked like this bluerider would be an asset to the Weyr indeed.
