Some Wounds Do Not Heal

Felyna going crazy?

Lady Felyna

Felyna

Felyna curled up on the couch in their quarters, watching a young, blond
headed toddler play with his much older siblings. She was spending more
time with the children these days and beginning to really enjoy being a
mother. Felwal looked like his father Corowal but he had her green eyes.
He was going to be a handsome one.
She smiled in pride and affection.

Being a mother had driven her and Corowal closer, and it seemed that they
might be on their way to becoming a family. While it troubled her that he
still seemed attracted to other women, he was very attentive nonetheless,
and their bed had never been warmer.

She let herself remember.

(2 turns earlier )

"The baby! He's coming too early." She was rushed to the Infirmary and
the Healers were called. The pain had been incredible and it had felt
wrong, had not felt like they had told her it would feel.

Corowal never left her side, holding her hand when she could only scream
and encouraging her when she could breathe.

Several candlemarks later, her baby... their son.... cried his arrival to
the world and was put into her arms. He was so beautiful, happy, healthy!
Alive! He was alive! Why was she so surprised he was alive? She
should never have been worried.

(present day)

Corowal had given her a necklace with his picture that she still wore. She
smiled as her hand clasped the locket, watching the children play.

Felwal dropped a block on his toe and began to cry and she got up to
comfort him. She reached out to hold him close and the crying stopped.

Stopped completely.

The scene around her shifted, showing the living area as it was today, only
months after Felwal had been born, not turns, and no baby in her arms.

She screamed.

~*~

The blond Lady Holder woke up in her empty bed, curled around one of the
pillows, sobbing. Xebex began to croon and she wished that Corowal was in
bed with her, as he had been in her dream.

The cries continued long into the night as she wondered why she kept having
the same dream of Felwal, living, loving, happy?

Would this wound ever heal?
