It had started so damn innocently, just like last time. He and one of the female Candidates had been setting down the laundry bags they were hauling around by one of the giant washtubs in the wash room. His browband had started coming loose, so he had bent his neck and reached behind his head to re-tighten it.

If he hadn't done that, and if he had been wearing his heeled boots, the other Candidate probably wouldn't have kissed him. But the heeled boots were under his bed, drying after a polishing, and the lust that signaled a goldflight meant that Aluka's willpower went out the nearest door at the touch of the female Candidate's soft lips. The next thing he knew, he was lying on the laundry sacks partially undressed while the other Candidate rode him like he was a bucking runner.

When it came to an end, she collapsed on his chest, breathing hard. Despite feeling so very awkward now that the lust was leaving, despite that talk with P'nal, Aluka put his arms around her, because weren't you supposed to do that with the pretty girl lying atop you? He'd done it often enough with that girl in his Hold, even though they never went this far. After he caught his breath as well, he felt he ought to say something, try to get past the awkwardness. "Are-"

The girl giggled and kissed him, then pulled free and stood, straightening her underthings and skirts. "That was fun!" she said brightly, working on her shirt next. "It happened a lot sooner than I thought it would, too." She ran her hands through her cropped hair, neatening it. "Now there's no way anyone can force me to go back to my Hold. Too bad you aren't a girl; that would have really made my family mad."

The words hit Aluka like a sucker punch, and he felt a moment of blinding fury. As glad as he was that the girl was making her own life choices, getting away from a repressive Hold, he still felt used, even though that was probably irrational. But it wasn't safe to say anything now, so he bit his tongue, straightened his own clothing, and left, ditching the chore to cool off.

Sex was turning out to be a real problem.
