Description: J'darin and Devyn throw a party to celebrate the recent gold
Hatching and their new status as weyrmates. It doesn't end well - at
least for J'darin!
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 6, day 13 of Turn 7
Devyn smiled as she looked about at the people that were milling
around the weyr that she shared with J'darin. The little party they
were having was half in order to celebrate the gold hatchling and half
to celebrate J'darin and Devyn's new status as weyrmates. Either way,
Devyn enjoyed the excuse to have a few drinks with other dragonriders
and enjoy themselves for the evening. She didn't mind playing hostess
either!
"It looks like your party is going well." She said, coming up to
J'darin's elbow.
N'call sauntered across the room to his hosts with a big smile for
them both. "This party is great," he said with a slight slur. He'd
been entertaining several different ladies this evening and was
thoroughly enjoying both the women and the wine.
J'darin tucked his arm around Devyn as she came up to him almost
without thinking, smiling at her. "I think so. Do you know... I've
never had a party before...." He paused, dumbstruck by this
realization.
"Lady, you are changing me in so many ways." He kissed her cheek
lovingly just as N'call appeared in front of them.
"Thank you, N'call... you have been enjoying it quite alot, haven't
you?" He chuckled, ,shaking his head a little. Before Devyn, he'd
have been worse off than N'call and sooner in the evening.
"Wonderful job with the Hatchlings, sir." He added, meaning the gold
egg. "We wanted to honor the accomplishment of a gold egg too. Well
flown !" J'darin raised his glass of .... klah..... in his other
hand, toasting N'call.
"Thank you sir," N'call smiled acknowledging the other bronzeriders
complement. "Yes I have," he lifted his glass, "It's all very high
quality."
Agreement blossomed in J'darin's eyes, though admittedly, they were
looking at Devyn more than their guests. "Very high quality
indeed." He kissed her cheek a second time before his eyes took on
the distracted look that all dragonriders recognize.
}:Two weyrlings are fighting.:{ Hasaarth was sending.
J'darin nearly choked on his klah and shook his head. **Are any of
the other staff near?** It was late, the weyrlings should have been
in bed already.
He took a step away from Devyn, letting her go relunctantly and said
to the two humans, "Just one moment..." He hoped he wouldn't have to
go. The party had been a success, and no one had bothered him all
evening. He'd showed off Devyn and they'd connected with several new
friends as a couple. It looked to be naturally winding down now, but
still, the weyr was a mess. A genial happy mess, but still a mess.
"That is never good." Devyn murmured, more to herself but still within
N'call's hearing range. She had seen her weyrmate "step away" more
than once and usually it was never something that could be resolved
without his presence, otherwise he wouldn't have been bothered with it
to begin with. Still, at least she had been able to enjoy his company
for a little while.
"s'goin on?" N'call stepped closer to Devyn as her Weyrmate stepped
away. "You gonna need some help?" He waved his glass in the general
direction of the party aftermath.
J'darin listened to Hasaarth for another moment, then cursed. He
stepped back to N'call and Devyn looking apologetic.
"I'm afraid I'm going to have to go down... a pair of the weyrlings
are fighting and they aren't listening to Hasaarth or the other staff.
I'll be back as fast as I can." He stepped closer to his weyrmate
and pulled her close. "I'm sorry, love. I'll be back as soon as I
can."
He hated to leave her like this, it was becoming far too often a
happening. He was always on call, but this Weyrling class was the
most needy of the last several that he'd ever seen. They caused more
trouble than most, and he'd thought he'd had his hands full in G'wen's
class.
N'call sat down and looked blearily around the room. "Looks like a big
mess to clean," he said. "Need help?"
Devyn sighed as she watched her weyrmate go- again. She had lost count
of how many times he had been pulled away. Didn't he have a
Weyrlingmaster's Second... and a Third for that matter? Where were
they? She wondered if they ever had to leave their loved ones to go
take care of these things. **Probably not since J'darin is doing it
all.**
"Thanks N'call," she smiled at the bronzerider, "I would appreciate
it. Everyone likes to party, but no one ever wants to stay behind to
help clean it up." No, everyone had left and now it was just her and
N'call.
"No problem," he said and got up to start picking up dishes and
putting them all on the table. Then he gathered up the trash. "Where
do you want all this?"
"The dishes are fine where they are stacked, I will take them back
downstairs tomorrow. If you'll just place the trash by that bag by the
couch I will have a Weyrling take it out." If they were going to
interrupt the Weyrlingmaster's evening the least they could do was
some chores. Devyn folded up the tablecloths they had used and stacked
those near the plates as well, "Could you help me fold up the tables?
J'darin always has to do it, I can never get the joints to work
right."
"You got it," he smiled and went to work on getting the tables
collapsed and stacked.
The two worked together seamlessly, and when they were finished the
greenrider flicked her hair over her shoulder and smiled, "Thank you
for staying behind to help, N'call, I appreciate it."
"Not a problem," he smiled and leaned in to kiss her cheek. He'd
always liked the greenrider. "I think I need to sleep," he added
heading for the door.
