Notes: Part 2

"Sure, what will we do with them?" Reyina asked curious as to what happened when a rider died. She knew that when her mother died, D'wrayt had simply given the girls a majority of their mother's personal hair bows and items like that.

"A lot of it will be used by the next Weyrwoman, but her personal belongings will go back to her family as is only right." D'wrayt replied. He was glad that the girls had agreed to help him as it would be easier for him to get it done with someone there to keep him from breaking down in a flood of emotions.

Knara grabbed a sweetroll of the plate and nibbled on it as she thought. It had never occured to her that someone had to clear out the weyrs when a rider was killed in threadfall. Maybe that's where a lot of the items in the storeroom came from. It was nice to know that her belongings would get multiple uses out of them when she no longer had a use for them. "How do we know what is hers and what belongs to the Weyr as a whole?" Knara inquired before taking another bite of her sweetroll.

"Well. we know what is standard in every weyr, right?" he paused as they nodded and then continued, "So we gather up everything else into a box and go through it. Some things will be reusable and some will be her personal books. Things her family might want will go in one box and the rest we'll give to the drudges to take down to the storerooms."

While D'wrayt finished his klah, Reyina thought for a moment and then asked, "Did you love the Weyrwoman more than you loved mama?"

"Never, hatchling. I loved them both in entirely separate ways just as I love you girls differently than I love your mother or Jaela." he replied trying not to choke on his klah. Her question had completely suprised him in more ways than one. His youngest daughter was truly growing up and before he knew it she would be off on her own somewhere. He wondered if she would stand for the next hatching or fight for the right to go to the harper hall as an apprentice. He never knew with any of his daughters what they would do in any situation and they always suprised him even after all these turns.

"Oh. When can we start?" was the twelve turn old's reply.

Knara watched the exchange and was secretly glad to hear that he loved them all in different ways. She had begun to wonder just how much he had loved the Weyrwoman as opposed to her mother, but she would never have asked as it was none of her business. She knew that he had more than one lover and perhaps had done so when her mother was alive. It wasn't anything they had ever spoken about, but they did live in a Weyr where anything was possible.

"Anytime you're ready, hatchlings." he replied as he poured himself another mug of klah.
