Young Blood

Writers: Devin, Chelle
Date Posted: 31st May 2014

Characters: P'nal, J'kri
Description: P'nal watches the senior weyrlings during drills.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 7, day 2 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: G'nir

He had been watching the weyrling drills, knowing G'nir wanted a
report on who was promising. P'nal scribbled a last note, but stayed
sitting on the side of the hillock as they finished and began to disperse.
They were getting closer to finishing and he wondered who he'd want
as a wingrider. It was hard to judge, just on drills and observations alone.

When drills were over, J'kri noticed the man watching and came over.
"Hello Wingsecond."

"Good day there, weyrling. How are things going?" He brought his head up
and thought about going in soon. Sitting by the fire as he organized his
notes
sounded pleasant.

"Good, sir. Rademerth and I are learning more everyday." The blue was
less impatient now that there was more for him to do.

"Rademerth hmm? The curious one." He smiled and let out a chuckle. "There's
a lot to learn for sure. And you're doing things now that will be important
once
you graduate."

J'kri nodded. "Yes, sir. That's why we always do our best."

"So do you have any thoughts on who you would like to fly with?" Sometimes,
he
had to worry if they were weyrbred. They couldn't be in the same wing
as their siblings.

"Any wing would be an honor." Much as he disliked his parents' lessons
in manners, he was finding them useful. J'kri found himself being more
formal with ranking riders now that he knew he'd be serving under them
soon. It might have been the same with Masters and Journeymen if he'd
ever apprenticed.

"A very diplomatic answer. Were you ever harper trained by any chance?"
P'nal
almost laughed, the very white grin contrasting against his dark skin.

"No. My father is a Healer and he's very serious about manners. He's
serious about everything." J'kri fought an urge to roll his eyes.

"Well you've got good form and most of your classmates seem to like and
respect
you." He smiled to himself. Well rounded riders were always good to
fill the wing with.

"Thank you, sir. Rademerth and I do our best."
