Description: J'kri and Rademerth meet the new gold
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 6, day 10 of Turn 7
Slowly, bit by bit, Genna was beginning to settle in her new life. A
few days after the hatching, she was finally getting in the swing of
things. Waking, feeding, bathing, oiling, sleeping. Studies. Waking...
It was repetitive, surely, but she found a certain comfort in that. So
did Lissath, apparently, because it was 'as things should be'. Lissath
was just explaining to her the joys of a proper bath after a good meal
when she spotted a nearby blue looking at her.
}: Do you know him? :{ she asked of Genna, tossing her head back in
Rademerth's direction.
**Yes, that's Rademerth. He's the dragon of a friend of a friend of mine.**
Lissath didn't even dignify that with a response. The dragon of a
friend of a friend? How peculiar to think him important. Yet, she
found her curiosity drawn.
}: They say your name is Rademerth, come closer. :{ she beckoned him
as Genna wet her brush.
}:Hello little queen,:{ Rademerth made his way over, head lowered to
get closer to her level. He didn't pay much attention to other dragons
except Camilith and now greens in general once he'd realized they were
good for chasing. But he was quite interested in the gold hatchling.
}: Your rider is a friend of a friend. :{ she stated simply, splashing
around in the water a bit with her tail. }: Do you think that makes
you a friend of mine? :{
}:It does if you want it to.:{ The blue wasn't sure why he was so
curious about her. Maybe because the other golds were very big, and
she was so very small.
"Hey!" J'kri jogged over, clutching his brush and pail. "I turn my
back for five minutes and he runs off." He shook his head, smiling.
"Hi, Genna."
}:You were flirting. I wanted to see Lissath.:{
"Hi J'kri," Genna raised her hand in greeting, smiling wide. "You sure
did a great job with that dress for Paetri, she looked stunning at the
feast!"
}: I could use a tiny blue friend. :{ Lissath decided after a moment
of thought, forgetting that for now she was much, much smaller than
Rademerth. Maybe she should collect a friend of every colour. }: You
may be it. What's fun about you? :{
"Thank you. You looked stunning, or really more stunned at the
Hatching." J'kri laughed. It was interesting to see a Hatching from
the stands.
}:Fun? I am smart and fast and good at flying but I do not know if I
am fun,:{ Rademerth said.
"I was!" Genna laughed. "To be honest I'm still stunned, not sure how
long that will last! How long did it take you?"
}: If you're smart and fast then I'm sure you're also fun. When I can
fly too you should how me some tricks. :{
}:Yes, I can show you many tricks.:{ He liked the idea of teaching a
younger dragon, especially a queen.
"Sometimes I still am. It was at least a sevenday before I stopped
worrying it might all be a dream." The other weyrlings had seemed to
be in a daze, too.
}: That is good. I will come back to you when I can fly. :{ She made
it sound like it was just a sevenday away.
"Ah well, there is no denying Lissath, so I'm sure I will be fine,"
Genna winked merrily. "She seems to be a chatty sort too," she offered
as she waved at her young gold talking to Rademerth. Even if it was
mostly just to boss people around, she found it curious the young gold
talked so much.
"Rademerth isn't. I'm a little surprised he's so interested in her,
but then again she is a baby gold and he's never seen one." The size
difference between them was comical, but it wouldn't be the case for
long. As large as Rademerth was, he was still a blue.
"I like how she's just as interested in the blues as in the bronzes,
even if it's just for bossing them around or collecting compliments,"
Genna smiled. It would probably change as Lissath matured, but for now
it made it easier for her to fit in with her fellow weyrlings, most of
those being blue and greenriders.
"So she's living up to a few of the stereotypes, huh?" he teased.
}:Do golds play like other dragons?:{ Rademerth asked.
"Oh yes, mostly," Genna nodded. "I guess there is a reason those
stereo-types exist, right?"
Lissath considered Rademerth's question curiously. Play? Did golds
even play? She commanded, surely, but play? }: How do you play then?:{
}:Like this.:{ Rademerth lifted a foreclaw and brought it down,
splashing her gently.
"Some do fit those. But I think sometimes if I scrub Rademerth hard
enough I'll find a bronze hide under there." He laughed. "Though no
matter how hard you scrub me, you'll never find a bronze_rider_."
Genna laughed. "I bet there's a bit of green in Lissath, too, but
don't let her know I just said that!"
Luckily for her, or perhaps unluckily, the young gold was distracted
by the splash of water, though she looked positively perplexed. }: And
that's supposed to be fun? :{
}:You splash me. Then maybe it will be fun.:{ He and Camilth still
splashed and played in the water and he thought it was fun.
}: Now how's that supposed to make it better:{ Lissath muttered as she
stuck a paw into the water. Sending a big splash straight into
Rademerth face, suddenly she could see the humor. }: HEE! :{
Rademerth blinked water from his eyes, mouth dropping open in dragonic
smile. }:See?:{ He liked that she was so little and he could teach her
new things.
}: I see! :{ Lissath exclaimed as she turned around, swooshing with
her tail to splash not only Rademerth, but J'kri and Genna as well.
Genna let out a shriek as the water soaked her clothes and she jumped
back entirely too late. "Thank Rademerth for teaching her that, will
you?" she asked. She was trying to keep her face sarcastic and stern,
but a grin broke through anyway.
J'kri laughed. "One of the many joys of having a baby dragon."
The grin widened and Genna nodded readily. "It really is and I'm
loving every second of it!
