Cuddle Time and Recovery

Description: Paetri and J'kri recover after Camilth's mating flight
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 6, day 9 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: M'shan, R'axe

J'kri knocked on her door. He felt a bit guilty about not checking on
her sooner. R'axe was just so distracting... "Paetri? Are you there?"

When Paetri opened the door, it was evident that she had just emerged
from a bath, her damp hair falling over her shoulders and not yet
braided. She saw J'kri and smiled, opening the door. "Come in." She
stepped back, walking a little awkwardly.

"How was it? Was he nice? Because if he was a jerk, I'll have to go
punch him." He was only half-kidding.

She immediately flushed and her mouth dropped open, then closed. "No.
M'shan was nice." She winced a little as she moved to sit and shifted
her weight carefully. "It was just...rough." She was thankful again
that she had not waited until her flight. The pain would have been
excruciating. "I'm a little sore."

"Me, too," J'kri said with a little smirk. He walked okay but he was
careful to sit a particular way when reached the chair.

Her brows rose and she tilted her head at him. There was a little
smile playing around her mouth. "I see you found a good moth. You're
not too disappointed, are you?"

"No. I knew there wasn't much of a chance to win my first flight."
J'kri sighed. "Rademerth is pouting, though. I asked him to ask
Camilth if I could come over, but he refused. He really thought he
would win."

Paetri sighed. "I was hoping he would, actually. And they've always
been close. He might win next time." She looked over at J'kri. "Do you
think all flights are rough? I mean..he was nice after and was gentle,
but even then it kind of hurt."

"Now you see why they tell us to have sex before our dragons start
having flights." The weyrlingstaff had repeated it enough, especially
to the Hold and Hallbred weyrlings. "I think it's always rough, but to
varying degrees. It might not hurt so much next time."

Paetri exhaled and nodded. "I didn't think I had that in me and..."
Her cheeks flamed. "...I didn't mind it so much at the time, just
after." She frowned. "But I don't think I'll stay after the flight
next time, J'kri. It just felt to strange and ...wrong to me." She
found it easy to talk to him about these things, what she would have
been stammering about to any other person. Perhaps it was because they
were so close, or that he had been her first. "It's one thing to be
involved in a flight, but I think openly bedding a stranger without it
is just a little too much. At least for me."

J'kri shrugged. "That's the good thing about the Weyr. We can all
decide what's right for us." He tried to lean forward and winced as
the movement irritated a sensitive spot. Which then made him chuckle.
"Let me tell you, the person I ended up with felt _very_ right."

She blinked at the wince and suddenly couldn't help a giggle. "At
least mine isn't where yours is..." Her lips trembled as she tried not
to laugh. "Look at us, J'kri. I think we got a little too excited
about the flight." Her eyes sparkled in merriment at both of them in
such a silly situation. "Well, I'm glad you enjoyed yourself. I take
it he was nice too?"

"Yes, and very talented." His eyes got a little distant. "If Rademerth
doesn't win next time, I hope you end up with R'axe."

Seeing the expression on his face, she couldn't help but smile. "I see
that. You're all dazed. It's kind of cute." Paetri rose and poured a
glass of water, visibly walking a little bowlegged, and offered him a
cup before pouring her own and sitting down on her couch, where there
was more padding. She sighed with relief. "Well, I hope Camilth
chooses someone I know next time."

He thanked her for the water and took a sip. "If she doesn't, you can
come to me after."

She looked at him with wide innocent eyes. "Which won't do me a bit of
good if you're sore." Her lips trembled with the beginnings of a smile
that she tried to rein in.

She was getting saucy. The corner of his mouth turned up and he
wiggled his eyebrows. "Then I'll make sure I'm on top."

She couldn't help it, she broke into giggles, still shy enough to
blush over the suggestion.

J'kri got up and moved to join her on the couch. He put an arm around
her and kissed the top of her head. "You're really okay with this?
Most holdbred folk would be disgusted, or uncomfortable at the least."

She immediately snuggled up to his side, getting comfortable without
nudging any potential sore areas. "J'kri, I'm not disgusted." She
sighed softly and leaned her head back. "I've not always been
comfortable with it, but..." She touched his chin. "I'm not in the
hold anymore. It seems like that was a lifetime ago that I was." She
laid her head on his shoulder, enjoying the closeness. It was nice to
be open with him and not have to worry about what he thought of her.
He accepted her, skinny legs, little chest and all. "It's who you
are. And I lo..like what you are just fine."

He felt warm all the way through. "I like what you are, too. And I
like the person you're becoming. More confident, and a little cheeky."
He smiled. "A beautiful person becoming more beautiful every day."

"Thank you." There was a little laugh as she wrapped her arm around
him and sighed with contentment. "Do you have plans tonight?"

"I was just thinking it would be nice to stay here. To fall asleep
curled up next to you." He liked having his own weyr, but it could get
lonely.

"I was thinking the very same thing." They were both probably too sore
to manage more than that, but she didn't mind. She had found that she
really enjoyed just snuggling up with him. "That sounds like a perfect
ending for today."

He couldn't help teasing. "And who knows what the morning will bring?"

"Breakfast." She replied promptly, but with a little grin that was
hidden against his chest.
