Description: He started it. Aluka finished it.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 5, day 22 of Turn 7
Notes: Mentioned: Ninaine, J'darin
To his credit, Renolt wasn't mad at Ninaine. He was confused by her because he had never met anyone who had said no to him. Most weyrfolk were glad for a little fun, and most holders, male or female, were happy to be rid of what holders thought about sex or men liking men, and a good time was had by everyone involved.
No, the person Renolt was mad at was Aluka. That hick had made him look like a fool with that sucker punch, and his nose had hurt for the rest of the day. The more he thought about it, the angrier he got. He knew he would get in trouble, but it would be worth it. So when he saw the backwater youth sitting by himself as usual during lunch, Renolt stormed over and slammed his tray down on the other side of the table.
Aluka did not even flinch. He just looked up at him without moving his head. "Yeeees?"
"I have a bone to pick with you," Renolt snapped.
"I'm sure ya do," the other Candidate drawled so thickly it came out sounding like "Ah'm shurrre y'dew," and finished eating.
For some reason, the drawl made Renolt even angrier. "You made me look like an idiot-"
"Oh, I didn' haveta do a thing to make that happen-"
"No, shut up! I don't know what your problem is, but-"
Aluka stood up, cutting him off. The redhead was wearing his heeled boots today, so instead of just being three inches taller than Renolt, he was six. The effect was slightly intimidating, which, Renolt realized, was probably why Aluka wore them so often. "My problem is men who treat women like trash," he said in a deadly serious tone without a trace of accent. "You laid hands on Ninaine without her permission. You harassed her. She said no, you weren't listening, so I got involved."
Renolt gulped and rallied his courage. "Well, that doesn't mean you're going to get away with making me look stupid. We're going to settle this one way or another."
Aluka narrowed his eyes and hissed, "Walk off now, or you won't like what happens."
That did it. Renolt threw a punch across the table at the redhead's face, only for Aluka to snap his head back and get a glancing blow on his chin. Then Aluka grabbed his goblet and threw the juice it held into Renolt's face. As the other male squawked and rapidly scrubbed at his eyes, Aluka came around the table, grabbed Renolt's shoulders, and kneed him in the gut. "There, it's settled," Aluka snarled, letting go and allowing the other man to drop to the floor. "Stay 'way from me and stop comin' on to people so strongly, and we won' have any more problems. Now if'n you'll 'cuse me, I haveta report myself to the Weyrlin'master."
He stomped off, leaving Renolt to stew in his embarrassment and the pain of defeat.
