Dinner Can Wait

Location: Amber Hills Hold

She sighed, checking the window and noting the sun had begun it's
downward course. The day was nearly done. She couldn't wait for
Fitchen to return home. Her days were more lonely and boring than
she'd imagined them to be.

**Perhaps I need to find something _else_ I can do during the day,**
Ameala thought. She cooked just fine, she cleaned the house up, did
the basic daily tasks, but since it was _still_ just the two of them,
the days passed far too slowly for her liking. Yet, the evenings
passed far to quickly as she enjoyed her time with her husband.

Dinner was prepared. A simple wherry-based stew and fresh rolls she'd
made herself. Now that _was_ something she did enjoy, but there was
only so much bread two people could eat.

**Hurry home, my love,** she thought as she gazed out the window,
waiting for him to join her.

"I'm home!" the Journeyman Technician leaned against the door as he pulled
his boots off. "Have I time to get a quick wash before dinner?"

"FItchen!" Ameala called out, a smile lighting her face. She rose from
the chair she'd been sitting in. "I'm so glad your home. Yes, go
ahead, wash up. Dinner will wait until you're ready." She was so happy
to have him home, to have company once again.

"Good, I'm covered in dust from crawling around to get to some wiring. You
really don't want me at the table just yet."

She followed him, eager to hear about his day. "Where did you have to
crawl around? Were you able to fix the problem?" Ameala loved to
listen to his stories about what went on during the day. She liked to
imagine what it would be like to have to _do_ some of that work
herself. Seeing how dirty he was, however, she was glad she didn't
actually have to crawl around in the dirt all the time!

"The lights weren't working properly in one of the Headwoman's work rooms."
Fitchan pulled his grimy top off. "I had to move a table, then get down on
the floor to get to the fuse box. Turns out one of them had blown."

She smiled, admiring him without his shirt on before answering.
"You've talked about such things before, did you just have to put a
new fuse in?" She wasn't completely sure what all he had to do all the
time. She tried her best to imagine it, but without seeing some of the
things he did herself, she was always just guessing as to what
actually happened.

He noticed the look on her face, and smiled as the top was tossed into a
laundry hamper. "That's right, get the melted wires out, and put a new one
in to make the circuit and test it to make sure it wouldn't blow again."

"That sounds very interesting. I imagine it took some time to do all
that," she commented, stepping a bit closer. "I could help you wash up
before dinner?" She said, her eyebrows rising a bit suggestively.

"Well now you mention it, there's this spot on my back that is kind of hard
to reach," he replied. "I think I might need a bath to scrub it."

She giggled, coming closer. "I could _definitely_ help you with that!"
Her arms moved to his shoulders as her hands reached up behind his
neck. "I've missed you. How about a nice welcome home kiss first?" Her
eyes were alight with amusement as she anticipated what would
hopefully follow.

"That I can manage," he said as his arms went around her to bring her close.
"How about this?" he murmured as he lowered his lips to hers.

"Mmm," she purred as his lips met hers. "Now _that_ was a good welcome
home kiss," she winked at him and giggled some more, just enjoying the
chance to be held in his arms.

"Do you want me to go get dinner ready or would you rather I help you
get washed up?" Her voice held a light, teasing note to it, letting
him know she was fine either way, but was enjoying their time
together.

"Can dinner wait?"

Ameala grinned and giggled, wrapping her arms around him tighter.

"Dinner can _definitely_ wait!" She declared with a smile on her face
as she tugged on his shoulders, eagerly waiting for what she knew was
to come.
