Devyn

Devyn

Devyn's chest still heaved softly as she caught her breath, her skin
glowing with a light sheen of sweat as she collapsed into the pillows
of the bed beside P'nal. As the lust of the flight began to slowly
ebb from her mind and body, an image of another face filled her mind-
J'darin. She'd hoped that the man would win her flight. Even with that
thought, Devyn wasn't disappointed that P'nal was the man beside of
her, because it certainly could have been someone worse.

P'nal was one of those guys who didn't come to right after a flight
experience. He basked in the afterglow. When he finally did realize
where he was and what happened, though, his first thought was of
J'darin. Stifling the resulting groan, he hoped Devin didn't take that
as an insult. Being generally fit, he didn't hurt too much but it was clear
it had been a workout in itself. He started to sit up and rubbed his head
a bit.

Devyn turned her head to watch P'nal as he came around, "P'nal, you
know J'darin better than anyone. How upset is he going to be?" It was
strange, she decided, that after a _good_ mating flight both of their
thoughts were concentrated on another man. J'darin might not have
known it, but he had two faithful friends in Devyn and P'nal.

"Honestly, in the past we've never had a problem but...he's recovering
now so.." Closing his eyes he considered things and came up with an
answer he didn't really like. It was a situation that could happen again,
though, so it would have to be dealt with. "I doubt he's going to be that
upset with you. I'm the one. But yes...he'll be mad for a bit."

The brunette sighed a little, reaching up to stroke a strand of hair
away from her face. "I was worried about that. When we first met he
told me that he had just quit drinking. You don't think this will make
him fall off the wagon, do you?"

That had yet to occur to the brownrider but it immediately became a very
real possibility. "It's quite possible. I think it'd be good for me to leave him
alone for a few days so he can think about things. Otherwise I'd track him
down and make sure he didn't." His lips went into a thin line as his mind
went through the possibilities. "I'd like to think he wouldn't...."

Devyn sat up in the bed, the furs falling away, "I think I'll go check
on him then." J'darin had been doing so well, and from the rumors the
greenrider had heard about the Weyrlingmaster before they dated, she
did _not_ want him turning back into the alcoholic bronzerider he'd
become known as.

"Word of caution. I said he's probably mad at me-but he may lash out at
you. And he might not be very nice. He'll regret it later but..." Shaking his
head, the brownrider tried not to upset Jodeth who was very happy with
himself. This was not his dragon's fault.

She didn't know the man as well as P'nal did, but Devyn couldn't
imagine J'darin lashing out at her. If he did it would be a true
testament to his character, after all, he was a Weyrlingmaster, he
understood how flights worked better than anyone else should.

Buttoning her pants and pulling her tunic over her head, Devyn shook
out her hair, "Other than all of that," she grinned a little, "thanks
for a good flight, P'nal."

He sighed, shaking his head. "Aye, it was nice certainly and Jodeth is quite
pleased with himself. Good luck and let me know if you need reinforcements."
He could always maybe ask E'naer to gauge out the situation.

Devyn stamped into her boots, using both hands to tug the knee-high shoes

into place, "I'll be in touch, although I don't expect trouble from
J'darin." In fact, she wasn't even sure his feelings went deep enough
for him to be _that_ angry about losing her flight. Maybe it hadn't
bothered him at all and she would turn up at his weyr to find that he
was surprised to even see her.

Even though he didn't feel like moving at the moment, Devyn's actions
were enough to get P'nal up and clothed so he could go to his own weyr
to bathe and sleep in his own bed. Clearly he had done some things his
body had not planned on doing because he was sore.
