Description: U'kaiah and Kalamath can't resist turning on the charm around
Devyn and Ellyth...
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 5, day 17 of Turn 6
Kalamath moved aside, offering half his fresh kill to the green who had
made one of her own not far off. With a graceful leap, he sprung into
the air, fully intent on being watched by the pretty little female he
had so gallantly offered to share with. After all, he could catch
another herdbeast, and this time she could see just how well he did it.
U'kaiah just rolled his eyes and called to the greenrider leaning
against the fence a few posts down from where he had stood to watch the
whole scene play out. "Ellyth better watch out, Devyn! Kalamath is in
a flirty mood today!"
Devyn laughed as she drew closer to her wingleader and leaned against
the fence once more, "Well, it's a good thing that Ellyth is always
flirty, and besides, you can imagine the honor she feels because it's
_Kalamath_, a bronze." The greenrider chuckled as she watched her
green give Kalamath the equivalent of a woman batting her eyelashes.
"And you know how picky _bronzes_ can be," U'kaiah chuckled, shaking his
head. Of course he was being sarcastic. Kalamath would flirt with just
about any green that flirted back. Perhaps that was one way the two of
them were alike, he mused.
"Oh, of course, of course, it's gold or nothing." Devyn teased back,
knowing very well that the greens of the Weyr served to keep the male
dragons happy when it came to mating flights since gold's didn't fly
nearly as often as the smaller females. Greens also didn't have to
worry about clutches or leadership so the flights were more lusty, and
enjoyable in Devyn's opinion, although she knew she was probably a
little biased on the matter.
"That's right, gold or nothing. Except greens." U'kaiah sighed
dramatically. "Unfortunately he lost a green Flight the other day. I
think he's looking for redemption. Believe me, my ego is nothing
compared to his."
Devyn chuckled at that as she absentmindedly plucked at little
splinters of wood on the fence, "Well, don't tell him, but if the
color of the hide is any shade of bronze, Ellyth is interested, she's
not picky in that aspect. I can hardly get her out of the Weyrlake
unless there's a bronze around that she can preen in front of."
"I certainly will not tell him. He's sure he's charming the pants off
of her right now. Or at least the dragon equivalent." He watched the
greenrider's fingers at work demolishing the fence one sliver at a time.
"And what about you? Where do your tastes run?"
"Good question, bronzerider, but I suppose I'm more like my dragon
than I'd like to admit. If a man has charm, he has my heart." Devyn
revealed with a wink to U'kaiah. The greenrider had never been one to
heavily rely on the color of a man's dragon to tell his story.
"Well, that's something that we bronzeriders are supposed to be renowned
for," he said with his best bronzerider grin. "Perhaps I should say,
it's _one_ of the things we are renowned for."
Laughing, Devyn pushed away from the fence a bit to face U'kaiah, "Oh
really? I thought being charming was a brownrider quality?" There was
a teasing lilt to her speech, as she raised one eyebrow.
The bronzerider was not phased in the least. "Oh, well, being charming
is a quality I have been told even my _son_ has. There's cute, nice,
amusing charming and then there's... Well, _me_."
"I bet you would describe yourself as modest too." Devyn wagged her
finger at her Wingleader, still laughing. It was refreshing to find a
man that she could tease who didn't turn five shades of red and get
angry because he couldn't understand the joke.
"Oh no, not modest," U'kaiah said with a wag of his finger. "But
_honest_, greenrider. Do you disagree?"
Devyn thought about it for a moment, a smile still riding on her face,
"I concede, I concede! You're right." She grinned and then tilted her
head to the side as she caught a movement in her peripheral. Ellyth
was bidding Kalamath a good night even as she lifted off of the ground
in a smooth bound, "Looks like Elly-girl is ready to be on her way."
"Ah, well, then," the bronzerider pushed himself off the fence.
"Bellies have been filled, ladies have been charmed... Our work here is
done! I will sleep well tonight. How about you, greenrider? Are you
satisfied?"
The woman arched one slender eyebrow, her eyes dancing, "I would say
that I am," she tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, "but I'm
always available for a night cap if, by chance, sleep doesn't come as
easily as you hope." Flashing her teeth in a grin, Devyn inclined her
head to her Wingleader, "Have a nice evening, Wingleader."
"Sweet dreams, greenrider," U'kaiah said with a lazy smile, crossing his
arms over his chest and leaning back against a rail to enjoy the view as
she walked away.
