Ioven opened his eyes, expecting to hear the sound of snoring, the shaft
of light peeking in through the porthole, the gentle rocking of the
boat, the hot itchy feeling of his berth. Instead, everything was
still. The light was soft, the bed beneath him still and comfortable,
and there was only the faint sound of one person breathing beside him.
**I'm home...* he thought, slightly surprised. It was as if it couldn't
truly be real, but as he pushed himself up on his elbows and saw a
painted ceiling instead of wooden, creaking beams, he knew it was true.
Parale was sleeping soundly. Normally an early riser like any good
holder, she had been tired from the day's events. There had been the move from the ship, then trying to figure out what to do, and making do, and then trying not to get lost...
He also had been worn out after all the hauling of heavy trunks, the
moving of furniture, the rearranging. It was all he could do while
tucking his girls into their bed not to fall asleep right then and
there. As soon as he thought they might be out, he slipped out of their
room. The silent promise that finally they would have some proper time
as man and wife after their sevendays of sneaking around and stealing
moments here and there was forgotten in his exhaustion and he had fallen
straight into bed after only kicking off his boots and peeling off his
shirt. His belt was now digging into his stomach and he lay back with a
long sigh so he could finally remove it.
The sigh stirred her. Fighting the urge to wake up, Parale finally
lost-sort of. She simply moved over to him and burrowed, trying to go
back to sleep.
Ioven froze, belt still in hand as she snuggled up against him. That
was going to take a little getting used to, he thought. Narys had been
a snuggler. She often would drape herself around him, and loved it when
he held her. He hoped Parale didn't expect the same. They hardly knew
each other! But the smell of her hair and the warmth of her body was
familiar...
There was also the matter of her being stark naked thanks to the heat of
this place he had taken her to. Parale was going to have to get used to
it.
He hadn't even noticed when she had crawled into bed next to him, and so
it was a bit of a surprise when he realized her lack of clothing as he
turned his head to look down at her. All those beautiful parts he could
only imagine as he ran his fingers over her clothing were suddenly laid
bare before him. Thank Faranth he had taken off that belt! Suddenly,
his clothing was feeling a bit... restrictive...
She felt him move again and finally gave up. "What candlemark is it and
how long until breakfast?" She had no supplies at the moment so she
couldn't cook them anything.
"I don't know." And he didn't care. Now that she was awake... He knew
what he wanted, and it wasn't food. But would she feel the same, he
wondered, letting the thumb she had leaned against questioningly caress
her side.
She yawned, allowing the attention, but still not quite awake enough to
realize what he wanted. Parale pushed the sheets, thinking about using
the lavatory. She always had to go first thing in the morning.
Ioven's fingers stilled, not sure if it was an invitation or not. She
seemed to be willingly giving herself to him, but at the same time, it
wasn't exactly seductive or shy. She hadn't even _looked_ at him! He
would never be able to guess what was in that woman's head, he was sure.
Ioven just had to trust in her ability to be blunt, even though he was
not so comfortable doing so. "So... then... do you want... I mean,
shall we... You know..."
"Oh?" The fog cleared and she realized what he wanted. "I...wait. I have
to go and use the necessary first." Climbing out of the bed, she threw
her robe on and took care of business. When she returned, she crawled
into bed and pulled herself to straddle him. "There we are..."
There they certainly were, he thought as his ran his fingers over her
body. She certainly had no shame telling him exactly what she wanted,
and while he could sometimes find that to be an annoying trait in the
outside world, it definitely served them both well in their bed. He sat
up long enough to find her lips with his and then gently pulled her back
down to the bed with him.
Enjoying the contact without the rocking of the ship underneath her and
the understanding that it didn't necessarily have to end after only a
few moments, Parale leaned into him and kissed him back, wrapping him
with her limbs.
He explored her back and rear with his fingers as his tongue caressed
hers, remembering just how good a morning like this could feel. Rolling
her onto her back, he covered her with his body, their kisses turning
almost frantic before he began sliding down her body, tasting her for
the first time in sevendays. She had told him what she liked their
first night together, and just as his lips wrapped around a very
sensitive spot, he suddenly froze. What was that sound? Giggling! His
eyes flashed up to hers. "The girls!" Ioven quickly rolled off of her,
turning his back to her and the door.
"What?" And then it clicked. "Ack!" Quickly, she pulled herself up into
the bed and pulled the sheets to her nose. Not for the first time she
wished she could have proper bedfurs. Her cheeks turned a bit crimson,
but otherwise she kept her composure.
Not a moment too soon as the door burst open with a loud "Wake up,
Daddy!" and a small body leaped up onto the bed. Venrys was a bit more
reserved than Syren, content to stand at the foot of the bed for the
moment. "It's morning, time to wake up!"
And yet Ioven stayed with his back turned, laying very still. "Wake up,
Daddy," Syren repeated, shaking him.
"Renling, he's sleepy. Daddy had to move a lot of things yesterday."
Parale put a finger up to her mouth. "How bout we let him sleep? You
go get ready for breakfast and I'll get dressed and we'll go down and
bring him some?"
"You mean like a surprise?" Syren asked in a loud, excited whisper. She
had never surprised him with breakfast before!
"Yes, like a welcome home surprise." Parale nodded, hoping the little
girl would catch on and she could get up and dressed before more awkwardness happened.
"Yeah! Let's do it!" the younger agreed as she crawled back off the
bed.
"Daddy doesn't like us leaving without telling him where we're going,"
Venrys reminded Syren, not sure if it might not get them into trouble in
the end.
"Like I said, let me get dressed and I will go with you. So you'll be
fine. We went places without Daddy before, didn't we?" Parale wanted the girls to understand that she was an equal parent now. "Now go get ready."
"Ok." Venrys said, still a little skeptical but trusted that Parale
could not let them get into trouble. She took her little sister by the
hand and led her out of the room.
As the door closed, Ioven rolled over onto his back, raking his fingers
through his hair in frustration. "They're not used to having to knock
in the morning. I'll have to have a talk with them."
"Mmmhmm...and I'm going to have to get them to realize that I'm just as
responsible for them as you are. Although I was before but..it's different." That was going to be interesting, but she didn't want the girls to have too many changes too quick.
Getting up, she moved to start getting ready, thankful for her bath the
night before.
"I'll talk to them about that too," he assured her, grimacing a little
as the discomfort of his frustration was starting to set in. Hopefully
she would leave soon so he could relieve a bit of the pressure.
Once she was dressed, she wrapped a scarf around her head and headed out
in search of her girls. "Venling, Renling-let's go."
