Description: O'ryn and J'nor visit J'nor's weyr.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 3, day 1 of Turn 6
O'ryn couldn't wait for drills to be over with, so he could get home,
get to the bathing caverns, and then track down his favorite
bluerider. The younger weyrling class had graduated to senior
weyrlinghood last sevenday. As of today J'nor would have his own
weyr... and be free to pursue a relationship. The greenrider bit his
lip, knowing he was smiling at just the thought of it. Months of
patience would finally pay off this evening, if he got his way.
It was another candlemark before he got his wish. After rushing
through a bath, he had Lyriath call Zoranaith to find out where
J'nor's new weyr was, going out on his ledge with the green to try and
spot the blue.
J'nor had just arrived in his weyr. HIS weyr. He said it over and over
again in his mind, each time smiling more at the thought. Now if only
the sharding place wasn't so dusty...
}:Lyriath's would like to come visit,:{ Zoranaith said, interrupting
his thoughts.
**Tell her she's welcome to come up but that I can't be held
responsible if she gets lost in all the mess,** J'nor responded.
Chuckling at the message, O'ryn climbed up on Lyri for the short hop
to the other ledge, on the same side, but further down the weyrbowl
than this own. Once there, he called out, "So, what will I get in
return if I spare you some of my time to help you get this place
cleaned up and inhabitable?"
J'nor grinned, "Well, if you don't help me, I fear that this will take
me until I graduate to get finished! But I would be incredibly
grateful if you agreed to help out.... I swear this thing hasn't been
inhabited since the last pass..."
The greenrider peered around the room, noting the general dustiness
and disuse. "Well, at least you got decent furniture in yours. I had
to replace most of what was in mine when I moved into it," he pointed
out. "It really just needs a good cleaning." He moved to stand next to
the bluerider.
J'nor hugged O'ryn tightly to him. "Shards, every time we go /between/
I fear I'm never going to make it back to you," he whispered
intensely, dropping the idle chit chat about the weyr, and getting to
the point of his thoughts.
Surprised at the sudden move and change in tone, it took O'ryn a
moment to respond. "Don't get distracted because of me. Once you've
had some more practice it won't seem so uncertain every time you make
a jump," he said, his expression sober. "And the last thing I want is
for anything to happen to you, especially not when we're just able to
see where this is going."
"Yeah, I know, its just hard not to think about it every time we're in
class. My Da doesn't care if I die, and my Ma is dead. You're the only
one who would care if anything happened to me, and I just haven't
really wrapped my head around it all yet, you know?"
"I get it," O'ryn reassured him quietly, leaning against the taller
man. "How d'you think I felt, going through Blooding a few sevenday
ago? At least now, you can actually come to me. I didn't dare talk to
you about what I was feeling then." He slowly draped his arms around
J'nor's body, content to stay there until his... friend? lover? …was
feeling a little less emotional.
"I need a bed," J'nor said a few moments later.
It was sad that O'ryn's mind immediately jumped to things that it
probably shouldn't. A bed _was_ a practical necessity. "Alright, so
we'll find one of the Headwomen and get you one from stores. Anything
else you need? You might want to make a list."
"Yeah, I need everything, this place was completely gutted after the
last occupant. I chose it because it had a good view.... and it was
close to your Weyr. I might have wanted to research what it's
condition was first," J'nor said.
O'ryn laughed, "That might have been a good idea, but what's done is
done. It's close to dinner now, you might be stuck waiting until
morning before you can find someone to let you into the storerooms."
"Yeah, looks like I'll be spending another night in the barracks,"
J'nor said, frowning. "I was eager to get out of there, but at least a
good number of the other weyrlings have gotten out of there."
The greenrider gave him an odd look, "You could always stay at my weyr
for the night."
"Oh..." he said slowly. "Oh!" He added, as recognition hit. "I.... I
can, can't I?" His heart thudded heavily in his chest. He was a Senior
Weyrling now. He'd been so busy with the fear of /between/ and the
increasing complexity of his classes that he hadn't even had time to
consider the fact that he and O'ryn were allowed to spend time
together.
It was something that O'ryn certainly hadn't forgotten. While he was
just as busy now as he'd been as a weyrling, flying with the wings was
re-using information he'd already learned until it was instinct. It
wasn't as mentally demanding as learning something new, so he had
plenty of time time think. He flashed J'nor a smile with a hint of
wickedness few people would believe of him. "Yes, you can. Careful, or
I'm going to think you don't want to," he teased.
"No no no, I definitely do. In fact, let's get a move on," J'nor said,
heading quickly towards the weyrledge. He wanted to be out of the
dirty weyr, and more importantly, he wanted to spend some quality time
with O'ryn.
