Characters: Roana, N'ki
Description: Roana comes to visit her brother N'ki and try and get him out of
the Weyr for the day
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 1, day 23 of Turn 6
Notes: Mentioned: J'klin, Cardella, every male green rider in the Weyr...N'ki
loves you all, baby
Roana slipped out of Phiralith's harness, thankful that her monthlies
were finally over and not keeping her bedridden most of the time.
She'd been intending to make this visit last sevenday, but that had
gotten in her way. Ah well, she thought to herself, better late than
never!
Unbuckling a string bag from the green's straps before stripping the
lot off completely, she slung it over one shoulder and piled the
harness neatly to one side of her brother's weyrledge. "N'ki!" Roana
called out loudly. "Are you here?" In the interim, Phiralith was
sending a call to his blue Veriath, asking the same question.
}:Wha...huh?:{ The blue sat up, and yawned. His lifemate chuckled at
him and shouted out, "yes, come on in sis!"
"Still in bed?" She teased as she entered his weyr and dropped her bag
onto his table. "Get up, you lazy lump!" When he didn't, Roana moved
to sprawl over the empty half of his bed on her stomach, feet kicking
lazily in the air. "Must be nice to sleep in like that."
"It is!" he laughed, reaching over to hug his sister. "So what brings
you two over so early in the day?"
She pouted at him, "I can't miss my favorite older brother?"
"Only if you get me a cup of klah. How am I supposed to face the day
without at least one?" he mocked whined at her.
"Oh, for..." Roana grumbled. "Fine, I'll be back in a few minutes."
She knew he would be useless without klah anyhow, so she took herself
down to the dining caverns, thankful that she knew the path well, from
her own time at Dragonsfall.
It didn't take long before she was back, with klah and two covered
plates of breakfast that had her mouth watering all the way back
upstairs. "If you want it, you have to come out here, or I'll eat your
share too!"
"You're a cruel woman, you know that! Just like our mother," he
teased as he crawled out of bed and put on a dressing robe. "Hmm..so
what did you get me? Any of those pastries with the sugar on them?"
"No sugar pastries for you," Roana chuckled. "Real breakfast. Sausage
rolls, scrambled egg, gravy, fried tubers and biscuits. You're looking
a bit scrawny," she teased, knowing he was probably healthier than she
was.
"Am I? Well, there's been no complaints from any of my bed fellows, if
you know what I mean." He sighed and nibbled on a roll. What he
really wanted was one of those lovely pasties that that young girl who
got herself a green had used to make.
Roana laughed, "Oh I'm sure about that. Dare I ask how many there's
been since I'm not here to keep you out of trouble?" N'ki had always
been rather free with his favors, far different from her own reserved
nature. How they'd come from the same parents, she'd never figure out.
"Pfft! If we started trying to tally up, we'd be at it all day!
Let's just say I lost count, but this place has some_very_pretty green
riders. Very pretty. And some of the Weyrlings! All I can say is I
can't wait for the next few months to go by, and some of them start
having Flights." He gave her a rather wicked grin.
"N'ki," she groaned, "What are we going to do with you? Here I've been
bloody celibate since I transferred to River Bluff - thank Faranth
that Phiralith is rising soon - and you've been getting laid more in a
month than I probably have in my whole life. Ugh! I could hate you
right now!"
"It's not my fault you're not getting any! So..why exactly are you
celibate?" The only time in his life he had been_that_way had been
when he was a Jr. Weyrling. He shuddered. No way, there were too many
lovely boys to bed to put the effort into keeping them at bay.
"Well..." Roana had been carefully _not_ mentioning J'klin the last
few times she'd visited her brother, "I've sort of been seeing J'klin,
but I'm still deciding if I really want a relationship with him."
"Well, m'dear, get him in the sack..and_then_you'll know if he's worth
hanging on to. And if he's not, girl, there's plenty more out there!
That is_so_not a good enough excuse to refrain." At that, he nodded
at her to emphasize his point and tucked into his breakfast.
Roana laughed again, "Oh, N'ki, you are priceless. Trust you to judge
a man first by his skill in bed and by everything else later on. No
wonder you've never settled down with anyone."
"But of course! That's the funnest thing you could ever do with a man
anyways. And you don't want to get all gooey and say things like 'I
love you' until you know just how big a boy you got on your hands,
y'know?" He gave her a wicked grin and winked.
"He's male and a rider, how many of you don't flaunt what you've got?
I found that info out a long time ago," she snorted. "No complaints
there."
"So what the bloody shards are you waiting for girl? Go get some!"
He shook his head at her, wondering how in the world the two of them
came from the same woman.
"N'ki!" Roana protested, "I am not going to jump into bed with him
until it's clear he's got his head on straight. I do not need drama
like that in my life. It'd be different if I just wanted to take him
to bed for a night and be done with him, but it's not like that."
"Oh...you're _so_not fun!" He reached out to tousle her hair. "So
what do you want to do today?"
"Oh, just a visit, although if you're interested, I've been shown a
great swimming spot near River Bluff. I brought a change of clothes
just in case. No reason we can't be warm and comfortable while we
gossip," Roana ducked away from his hand, expecting the move.
"So...that means getting not only my own lazy arse out of this weyr
but that blue one over there as well?" N'ki pointed to his lifemate,
who was sound asleep.
The greenrider grinned, "Yep, that's correct." She knew darned well
that it would take serious incentive to get those two up and out so
early in the day. "But it's a real beach on the ocean, complete with a
waterfall and warm water. C'mon, you know you wanna!"
"Any cute boys involved? A naked one under that waterfall would get
me there in a hurry, y'know."
She shrugged, "I don't know. We might run into someone there, we might
not. Either way, get your pretty arse up and moving, would you?"
"Okay already, woman!" He stood up and quickly got dressed for a day
on the beach. "Hey, lazybones, time to get up." He reached out and
stroked Veriath's eyeridges to wake the blue up. All he got was a
snort and a half hearted bat from the blue's nose. "Oh no, you don't!
Come on, we're going to the beach, don't you want some nice warm sand
to lay in?"
"And you can snuggle with Phiralith or she can keep you company while
you swim, Veriath," Roana pointed out, her voice wheedling.
}:But I have a nice warm wallow already to lay in. Why would I need a
beach or Phiralith?:{ The blue yawned and tried to tuck his head
under a forearms.
"The only thing in this weyr lazier than me is you, m'dear. Now
kindly get the bloody shards up! Now!" N'ki laughed, shaking his
head. "Phiralith , we may need your help."
Roana looked at her brother then at her green. "Phira, would you mind
ever so much giving Veriath some assistance in waking?"
The green responded by climbing up the mound that was the blue's
sleeping body and sprawling herself over him. One dangling foreclaw
swung lazily, tapping against the blue's side in an irritating double
rhythm.
}:This is nice,:{ the blue responded. }:This is what having one of
those furs you sleep in must feel like. I'm so warm!:{
"Ugh!" Roana scowled at the blue and marched over to him. "Veriath!
Stop being a lazy lump, or I'm going to thieve your rider away for the
day and you'll have no one to scratch your itches or pay attention to
you." Phiralith let out an irritated grumble of her own and shifted
away.
}:No! Come back!:{ The blue looked up and said to his rider, }:she
was so warm...can I get a blanket like that?:{ N'ki did fall down
laughing and told his sister what the blue just said.
The other rider laughed uproariously, leaning against the wall for
support. "Only you, Veriath," the greenrider panted out between bouts.
"And laying out in warm sunlight is nearly as good as a blanket,
especially on the beaches near River Bluff."
}:Okay, I'm up!:{ The blue didn't want to get up, but if he didn't
they'd never let him get back to sleep.
"Great," N'ki muttered, throwing the straps on him. "Lead the way, sis!"

Two candlemarks later, Roana was sprawled on the beach with her limbs
splayed comfortably around her. "Ahh. This is such a perk of living
near River Bluff now," she said. "I didn't know what I was missing,
staying at Dragonsfall so long."
N'ki--and Veriath's--response was an overwhelming snore.
All Roana could do was laugh and go back to her own sunning.
