Location: Harper Hall
Date: month 1, day 2 of Turn 6

N'tor whistled a softly and there was a bit of a bounce to his step as
he walked down the corridor towards the quarters of the Headwoman of the
Harper Hall. He gave her door a smart rap after running his fingers
quickly through his hair and over his tunic to straighten it out.

She'd been relaxing a bit for the evening and was dressed in a rather
simple flowing dress that helped to cool her in the warmth she'd grown
accustomed to here. Pulling open the door, she already had a smile on
her face even before she knew who her guest was.

"Hello," she looked up, "N'tor," she gushed. "What a pleasant surprise.
Would you care to come in for a bit?" She found herself wishing her hair
was tucked in in all the right places, instead of falling out of the
braid she'd been wearing, but she really hadn't been expecting company.
Moving
off to the side, Maemira made room for him to enter if he chose.

"I'm not interrupting anything, am I?" he asked, even as he slipped
inside her door.

"Oh, not at all," Maemira replied with a smile. "I never mind company,
especially such pleasant company. Did you come for the kitten?" She
asked as she moved about her quarters. "I can take you down to their
little room
if you'd like."

"Well, that's something I've to negotiate for sure," he said with a bit
of a wiggle to his eye brows. "I would love to see the little fellow,
though."

She raised her eyebrows curiously at his first comment, but the second
spurred her to action straight away. Tucking her loose strands of hair
behind her ears and smoothing back her more casual attire, she smiled
and stepped forward prepared to leave the room. "I'll take you to the
kittens then." She gestured ahead of her, "If you're ready, they're
right this
way."

"I definitely want the kitten," he said as he followed her towards the
place they were being corralled. "But, I can't take him to him just
yet. And I already have a feline in my weyr and I'm afraid he's rather
possessive of me. So... I was wondering if you might be able to hold
him for me for a little while. If you can do that, then I can take
him."

Maemira easily led the way down to the small room she'd been keeping the
kittens in. "Actually most of the others have been claimed. I only have
the one you wanted and one other left, and that little guy is supposed
to be picked up within the next few days. So," she turned and looked
back at
him as she opened the door, "I could probably take your little guy back
to my own quarters for the time being." She motioned that he could enter
the room with her.

"I would appreciate it. And in return, I would be happy to transport
you anywhere on Pern you would like, and invite you to come to my weyr
for dinner. And your husband too, of course," he added, fishing for a
little more information about the headwoman.

She turned and gave him a rather radiant smile. "Well, if I didn't know
better N'tor I would thinking you were interested in me, and _just_ me.
My husband is long gone from the picture. Off to pursue his own dreams
as it turns out. So does the dinner invitation extend to _just_ me?" She
had to admit she liked him. He was dashing _and_ charming. What better
combination could there be!

N'tor was actually rather glad to hear that there was no husband to
complicate things. He rather liked this woman and wouldn't mind getting
to know her a bit better. "Well, I _suppose_ I could adjust my plans,"
he said with a twinkle in his eye. "All right. Yes, I would like to
invite _just_ you to dinner."

She giggled like a young school girl. "Well, N'tor, _just_ me would love
to come. When should I plan on a nice meal with a very nice new friend."
She knew what his offer could also entail and Maemira was not opposed to
that either, if such a thing came up.

"Tonight?" he asked, knowing he had no plans.

She paused and looked at him, her face lighting up into a smile. "Well,
alright! I'd be happy to join you tonight."

"Have you ever been adragonback?"

"I haven't, actually," she gave him a half smile. "You'd think being
here, I
would have, but truth be told, it's just never been a need up till now.
Are
you offering me my first dragon ride?" Her eyes all but glinted with
excitement. "I don't think we should bring the kitten," she added with
amusement.

"What?" he asked, confused a moment before he realized she was kidding.
Finally he threw his head back and laughed heartily. He liked this
woman's sense of humor! "No, girl, just you. The kitten can stay on
the ground for the time-being."

She laughed at his reaction. Her laugh was so hard, tears seeped from
her
eyes.

"Aye, the kitten shall stay here. So, shall I prepare myself for a
journey
soon or did you have something else in mind?" She smiled at him and
added,
"for I'm already looking forward to the company over dinner."

"Oh well, it's up to you, really. I do know of a little tavern that's
friendly to dragonriders, if you wouldn't mind. And it's nice and
public and yet away from the eyes of the Hallfolk so you don't have to
worry too much about your reputation..." He wondered, though, just how
strictly she held onto the hidebound ways of the Hall, if she was so
willing to ride off with a dragonrider she barely knew.

Maemira had no fears. She trusted the dragonrider would keep her safe,
for
she had learned in her time here, that that was the case for nearly all
riders she met.

"Let us be off then. The tavern sounds like an interesting experience.
And I
have to admit, I am a woman who enjoys new experiences whenever they
present
themselves!"
