Tavia

Tavia

The broznerider's thumbs dug lightly into Tavia's shoulders, gently
kneading the muscles. "Feels like the bathing pool is doing it's job.
Very little tension here."

"Mmmmm" she said a small smile on her face. Her eyes were closed as
his hands and the warmth of the water helped her release the tensions.
One thing about Tavia, no matter how free her spirit was she was
always present and focused on where she was and who she was with.
U'kaiah satisfied her primal nature and she could tell after all these
years when Sawauth was getting ready to rise. Right now it was only
the beginnings of it, but it made an already playful and sensual woman
even more so.

She leaned against him and her hand ran over his legs on either side
of her. His fingers were giving her goosebumps.

"Now, wasn't this worth the wait?" he teased lightly in her ear as his
hands moved down to the muscles in her arms. U'kaiah liked the way her
fingers caressed his skin. She was certainly one of the most sensual
lovers he had been with in a while. Every look, every touch, seemed to
whisper **I want you...**. It was so simple and easy, no complications
whatsoever. Just the way he liked it.

Her hand rose out of the warm water to touch his face as she turned to
kiss him. "Absolutely." she said. She would have purred if she were a
feline. She just settled for rubbing against him. "Some wine would
make this feeling perfect."

"It would," he agreed, turning her face towards his again. His lips
caressed her jaw. "But that would mean we have to move." The
bronzerider debated within himself if it was worth the effort when she
felt, and tasted, so good.

Her eyes drooped a bit but she said, "tell me where it is and I'll get
it. You can warm me up again when I get back."

The bronzerider thought for a brief moment. He should do the chivalrous
thing and get up and get it himself. But since she offered... "In the
cabinet, second shelf, take your pick. Glasses on the shelf above and
opener in the drawer."

She smiled not the least bit hesitant, pushing away slightly she
dunked under the water to slick her curls back. Tavia rose from the
water and climbed out of the pool to pull a nice looking red from the
cabinet. She put the opener between her teeth and snagged a pair of
glasses. She went quickly back to the pool and handed him the bottle
and climbed back in shivering a little before the water started
warming her up again. The glasses were set on the lip and she handed
him the opener.

His head had just rolled comfortably into the little niche worn into the
stone. But it was only fair since she had moved to get the bottle that
he should open and pour. Pulling himself off the wall with some effort,
he stood so he wouldn't warm the wine unnecessarily in the steam. "You
have good taste in wine." He removed the cork and filled the two
glasses. Handing her one he slipped back into his comfortable spot, the
bottle carefully left in easy reach. Touching his glass against hers he
grinned. "To all the fun and none of the drama."

She smiled as he poured admiring the finely sculpted muscles in his
torso that spoke of fitness and strenuous exercise. She was well toned
but her body was more rounded. "Thank you" she said and accepted the
glass he handed her. After the bell tone of the glasses touching she
sipped the deep colored wine appreciating the way it wafted across her
palate. "This is delicious."

Then it registered what he'd said. "Fun" she echoed "and no drama."
But her curiosity was piqued. "What's the matter? Someone causing you
some drama?" It wouldn't surprise her, he was delicious and she
figured he probably spread it around. She took another sip.

He took a deep breath to try to answer her question, but held it
helplessly as he tried to figure out what it would be. There wasn't
really drama between him and Aileyan. There was just... nothing... now.
Sighing into his wine glass he took a sip and swished it around his
mouth as he considered his response. Swallowing he shrugged a shoulder.
"Just... some poor kid who's so afraid she'll get hurt she'd rather not
even try."

She took another mouthful of the wonderful wine. The relaxing tingle
suffusing her muscles and adding to the general good feeling. "That's
too bad" she said. Her glass set down on the side of the pool she said
"Here, my turn" and pulled him away from the edge to slide behind him.
Her legs wrapped around his waist, and her fingers began to knead his
shoulders.

"Life is too short to borrow trouble from our fears," she said as her
fingers grazed the graveled evidence of his scoring. "I see this too
much to dwell on the dangers of our job." As a woman she couldn't
share herself so freely if she didn't care just a little about the
person she was with. Her fingers manipulated the muscles and tendons
of his neck and then into his hair at the back of his head. "Of course
it takes a little while to learn that. Is she young? a rider?" There
wasn't a jealous bone in Tavia's body and her motivation was the
simple compassion that had driven her to be a healer in the first
place.

His eyes closed a little, feeling tension he didn't even know he carried
ease under her fingers. "Yeah," he breathed. "And Holdbred." He
nearly forgot about the glass of wine in his hand, and decided to set
down on the edge of the bathing pool before he dropped it into the
water. Turning as he did so, he caught her eye. "I'm not in love with
her or anything. Just in case you wondered."

She smiled warmly into his eyes then kissed him gently. The holdbred
carried so many inhibitions and taboos. Sometimes they got past them
and sometimes they didn't. But in this case that was his business. "It
wouldn't matter to me if you were." she said. "We enjoy each other's
company and that's all I need from you." her fingers continued to work
until she felt the relaxation setting in beneath her hands. "Well,
that and the occasional tumble."

She tasted like wine, he noted as he licked his lips. His fingers
trailed down her shin until they reached her foot. As she worked on his
neck and shoulders, he began gently rubbing the arch. "I think I know
what she's most afraid of. I think she's afraid that she could fall in
love with me, but that I'd love another. I can't say she's wrong. I've
never loved a girl like her." He cared for her and liked being with
her. But he could not see himself falling madly or deeply for her. "I
know how much it hurts to fall in love, only to find out that they're in
love with someone else. I wouldn't wish that pain on her."

"That is a hard place to be for anyone." she said. She could see the
girl's problem. Then some facts came together with almost an audible
click. **Traelyn** She remembered seeing U'kaiah with the goldrider
in the past but Trae had a long rather deep relationship with B'ram.
Tavia didn't say anything but stroked his hair remembering how much he
liked it. "It has to be hard on you too. Knowing you can't give her
what she wants, and you care about how she feels. It is heartbreaking
when you can't have what you desire so very much." Her hands stopped
their kneading and she draped her arms around his shoulders. She
leaned in to kiss his ear and nibble at the lobe.

"I'm sorry." she said softly. The meaning of that simple statement
different on so many levels. Sorry for the young rider and her fears.
Sorry for U'kaiah's lost love. Even a little sorry for herself since
she'd never allowed herself to get that close to anyone. She reached
for her glass and held it out for him to pour again.

He took her glass and stood to refill it. Her last words struck him as
ironic, being that she unknowingly played a small role in the ending of
his relationship with Aileyan. And she would not know it, she she had
done nothing wrong, and neither had he. "I will not live with regrets,
because I refuse to die with them. That's who I am. I never meant to
hurt her, but there's nothing I've done that I wouldn't do again." He
set the bottle down on the stone rim of the bathing pool, looking down
into her beautiful pale green eyes. U'kaiah was who he was, and he made
no apologies for it. The bronzerider lived in the moment, and at the
moment, there was a beautiful, sultry woman sitting naked in his bathing
pool.

A smile curved the corners of his lips as he brought her glass up to his
mouth. Taking a sip, he swallowed most, but not all. Setting her glass
back next to the bottle, his hands gripped the rim on either side of the
greenrider. Leaning over her, he kissed her slowly, but deeply, letting
her taste the wine on his tongue.

Her smile answered his statement. She agreed whole heartedly. All
anyone really had for certain was now and she was quite pleased with
her current situation. She chuckled when he polished off the majority
of what he poured into her glass. Then she leaned into the deep kiss
savoring the wine he shared with her letting her response tell him
what her body wanted. Gone and forgotten was any trace of sorrow as
she embraced the man who so expertly drove all thought from her head.
