Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 6, day 7 of Turn 5
Sh'lua had asked to see the Weyrleader, well knowing it was the restday. But since C'lua was now concious and out of danger, he really should return to his home. He had already been absent from Dolphin Cove Weyr for full sevenday!
"You must be Sh'lua," the Weyrleader said with a wave for the rider to follow him inside his office. "Sorry to make you wait."
"That's all right," Sh'lua said airily. "It is a restday after all and I'm sorry to disturb it."
"That's all right," T'mahl lied. He _had_ finally found a moment to actually work on a new project he had been meaning to do for quite some time. "I was told it was urgent?"
"I wonder what Galerith said... it isn't that urgent, but I leaving back to Dolphin Cove Weyr today and like to feel the ground first," Sh'lua said. Then, seeing the weyrleader's expression. "This does require a bit of an explanation first, doesn't it."
"Well, a bit," the Weyrleader nodded. The note had been rather vague. "Please sit down."
The bluerider more slumped than sat down. "Well, to start from beginning. I'm currently Dolphin Cove's rider, but I originally come from this weyr. I have ex-weyrmate and two children here, left behind when I moved to Dolphin Cove some thirteen turns ago. On first day of this month my son C'lua was Scored. He nearly died. My ex-mate, his mother, called me here and I've been pretty much spent the past sevenday sitting on his bedside and watching his breathing." Sh'lua stopped for a steadying breath. "He is now concious and healers assure me he will recover. But. He is blinded and his face will be hideously scarred. He will have difficult time ahead of him. And I want to be there to help him anyway I can. That's led me to consider transfer back here. I haven't filed an official transfer-request yet," he finished his explanation.
"I see. I'm sorry to hear about your son." T'mahl felt a twinge of guilt as he faced the boy's father. C'lua had been injured under his watch. The Weyrleader couldn't help but wonder if his father didn't blame him at least a little bit for his son's condition. "Of course I will do anything I can. I suppose the first step would be to talk to your Weyrleader."
"Of course it is. I would just like to know before hand that I would be accepted here," Sh'lua flashed an disarming grin. "I'm a search rider, which might complicate things."
"Ah, well, we could certainly use you!" He wondered what N'vanik would ask for _this_ rider... "May I ask how successful your Candidates tend to be?"
"Very successful. Oh, there's greenrider or two in Dolphin Cove who have better Seach-Impression ratio than we but not by much," Sh'lua replied.
"Excellent." Since Teseada's gold had risen, a new Clutch would be soon on it's way. They could use a good Searchrider now. "And how soon would you like to make your move?"
"As soon as possible," Sh'lua said.. "Of course it has to be done officially and my current Weyrleader must accept the transfer first."
"Of course. But you can rest assured that you'd have my full support."
"Thank you, it gives me the confidence I need." Sh'lua replied.
"Would you be transferring alone?" T'mahl knew he had a son here, but he wasn't sure what family he might be bringing with him.
"Probably yes, I think that my children in Dolphin Cove will stay with their mothers."
"May I ask how many children you have?" Not that it would have any baring on his transfer, but T'mahl was curious.
"Five. At least that I know of," blue rider flashed a grin.
That was quite a brood! "You expect that there are more?"
"You never know, if the mothers don't bother to let you know," he shrugged a bit. "You should see my father's tally! At least my tendencies limit the chances for offspring somewhat." Not all his lovers were women. The number was probably pretty much half and half.
T'mahl's lifestyle tended to limit his choices... He wondered, though... Might _he_ have some out there somewhere? It wasn't the first time he had pondered that question, but if the bluerider could have _that_ many, surely... "Yes, well, if you do choose to bring any of them over, I'm sure we can find a place for them here."
"No doubt," Sh'lua grinned.
"Right, well, I will look forward to hearing from you officially, then." Hopefully this transfer would go as smoothly as the last!
"I will look forward it too," Sh'lua said.
