The day's drills had been rather demanding and the bronzerider was
quite tired. The wing had performed well as he knew they would. The
wing had been flying together for quite sometime and despite the
change in leadership, the riders were still able to work together.

Turning to D'nev, D'wrayt said, "Was it just me or did we really get a
workout this time?"

"I think we did," it was almost habit to ad a 'sir' after those words,
but
D'nev caught himself in time. "Shoglenth needed it.

"I hope that the new greenrider can figure out the pattern soon, he's
an experienced rider. I know the Northern Weyrs' flight patterns are
not that different from ours. Shards, here I go again worrying about
something that I don't need to." D'wrayt replied stopping himself as
soon as he realized that he was starting to sound like a Weyrleader
again. He was having a tough time trying to not sound so offical lately.

"He'll get it soon enough."And get it he would have to, or face a
grounding.

"How is your son adjusting to being a weyrling?" he hadn't heard much
about the young man and was curious.

"I wish I knew, he refuses to talk to me, and I'm not sure he's resigned
himself to the fact he has a sister."

"He'll get over his feelings in time. Is Teseada coming around to the
idea? I know that it was quite a shock to her. I am thankful that my
girls are so willing to be around Daril even though he is their half
brother."

D'nev shrugged. "She refuses to talk to me." Half sibling weren't
uncommon
in a Weyr, but when the existence of one came as a total surprise. "She
feels I betrayed her and her mother by not telling them."

"What a situation to be in. I don't envy you on that, my friend."
D'wrayt replied with a shake of his head. He was truly glad that his
children were still willing to talk to him despite his distanceness
lately.

"I can only hope it works out, and for the best. J'nev has sisters
outside
the Weyr, they will have to know soon enough."

"Perhaps they will have a better reaction."

"Maybe, he was always conscious that as a father I wasn't there much, and
I
think a boy needs a father."

"You're here now, that should count for something. Have you tried
talking to him?"

"He's not ready, I don't think. It's been enough of a shock to actually
come
here and impress. I don't know whether leaving him alone will give him
enough time to calm down and talk to me about this."

"It just might. I'd wait until they start their first flights and then
try talking with him. Most weyrlings are overly excited when they can
start flying with their dragons." D'wrayt said with a soft laugh. He
had several turns of memories involving the first flights of weyrlings.

"We'll see," was all D'nev would commit to.

"Well, Have a good rest of the day." D'wrayt said realizing he'd
probably stirred up a lot of emotions that he hadn't meant to. There
was so much that went on in the lives of his wingmates that he didn't
really know about. Most likely because he hadn't taken the time to
talk to them as often as he should have.

"And you."

D'wrayt saw that Treadoryth was headed towards their weyr, so he
followed suit intent on getting the bronze to go for a swim to cool off.
