Description: Nialyn and K'lar spend their first night together as weyrmates
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 1, day 6 of Turn 5

Well, she'd brought the most important things, like a few sets of clothes,
her toiletries, things she wouldn't be able to do a couple nights without.
She'd get the rest tomorrow before she picked Lyndi up from her mother's
and brought her home. Nialyn smiled. _Home_. She had a home now, or as
much of a home as she could have in a Weyr. She picked up another shirt
and began to fold it. Shards, the look on Birigundi's face when she'd
told him she was going to have a home...be a part of a family. That had
swiped the arrogant smirk right off of his haughty face. **That's right.
This is what you lost, Biri. You could have had me and Lyndi for your own
to cherish and love, but you threw us away for to satisfy your own shallow
lusts.** She placed the neatly folded shirt on top of a small pile of
others, her movements confident. A few candlemarks ago, though, she
hadn't been so sure of herself and her decisions. After Nialyn had
escaped from Birigundi to the quiet sanctuary of her own weyr, she had
felt so remorseful--so sad and so very guilty. She had thought that maybe
she should have considered giving Biri another chance. But as soon as she
had let herself think that thought, she had grown angry with herself, and
the anger had dried her tears. Give Biri another chance? She'd given him
more than enough chances, but nothing good had ever come of them! If she
had given in to his desperate pleas then she would have been setting
herself up for yet another fall. And she was tired of falling. No, she
had been right to get away when she had. She had been right to say those
things to him.

"Anything else you want me to pick up tonight?" K'lar asked, kicking the
door closed behind him as he carried a box in one hand and a bag of
Lyndi's clothes in the other.

Turning around, she made to come towards him, but seeing that he had it
covered, she waited for him to come to her. Smiling, she took the bag
from his hand. "No, I think that's everything for tonight, K'lar. Thanks
for running back and forth for me."

"My pleasure," he murmured, smiling as he leaned down to kiss her. "I was
anxious too."

She ducked her head shyly. "I just...I couldn't wait." It would be
dangerous for her to be alone tonight with her own thoughts going around
and around in the same circles. And what if Birigundi came to her weyr to
try and argue some more with her? No, she'd had to move in tonight. And
now she was safe.

"Come on, I'll show you were you can put your things." He picked up her
stack of clothes and lead her into the bedroom. "I was thinking, it might
be a little soon, but maybe I should put our names on a list for a bigger
weyr. This is big enough for now, but eventually... Well, we might need
some more space. Here, in the closet, I can shove most of that to side
and give you some room, and I emptied out a drawer in the dresser for
now."

"You mean they have bigger weyrs than this one?" she asked, eyes wide.
She'd never seen any before! Faranth, what they could do with more
space...the possibilities were endless.

He set her clothes down on the chair, figuring that it could wait for
later. "Well, you know, for families. Since we're a family now, I figure
we can at least get onto a list and see what happens."

"Family," she repeated, tone soft. The word was warm, comforting. It
summed up everything she had ever truly wanted out of this life. And
K'lar, unlike most dragonriders, truly knew what that word meant, what it
entailed. Even Birigundi hadn't known, and he hadn't been at the Weyr for
as long as K'lar had.

He wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her close. "Well, yes. I
know it's a bit early to be talking about these things, but I hope,
someday, when you're ready, we can start a family of our own..."

She smiled up at him, but it was to hide her sudden jolt of nervousness.
Faranth, it all just seemed to be happening so very fast. "You know,
K'lar, I'm barely moved in..." She wrapped a finger idly around one of
the ties to his tunic, not really meeting his eyes, hiding behind
playfulness. "Don't you want me all to yourself for a little while?"

"Yes," he whispered softly, his eyes taking on a much more heated light.
"I do want you." And he had her all to himself now. K'lar kissed her,
telling her exactly how much he had just been waiting to have her alone
and in a bed that was _theirs_.

The intensity of his kiss took her by surprise. Gone was the soft
tenderness she was used to when he touched her. Now there was only a
rough need--and the only thing that kept her from pulling away was the
gentle touch of his hands. Too fast. She tried to temper him with a
slower pace. It was happening too fast. "K'lar," she whispered as their
lips parted, her fingers tightening on his shirt.

"I know," he murmured, leaning in for another kiss. This night had been a
long time coming, and it was hard for him not to rush things even more.

And suddenly she knew too. Of course, she had always known it would
happen, but the realization was finally beginning to dawn on her: she was
moving in with K'lar as his weyrmate--the Weyr's version of wife--and she
was spending her first night here, and he wanted to do more tonight than
just kiss her. And why shouldn't he expect it from her? This was a
significant turning point in their relationship, and hadn't she lain awake
nights thinking about what it would be like? And then feeling ashamed of
herself for imagining it? But now there was no need for shame....
Confused, she pulled away again and buried her face into his shoulder,
holding on tightly to him. Her body thrummed with awakening desire, but
her thoughts were still tumbling over themselves. "I'm not...I
haven't..." She cleared her throat, then said very softly, "It's...been a
long time for me."

"Oh shards, Nia, I'm sorry," he whispered, suddenly feeling like a true
wherry's ass. "I'm going too fast, aren't I."

"A bit," she whispered back.

"All right," he murmured, leading her over to the bed, "we'll take it nice
and slow." Kissing her much more gently he slowly lowered her to
mattress, his hand wandering up her side and into her hair. It was almost
frustrating to have her beneath him, warm and inviting and _his_. But he
had promised to take care of her, protect her. But shards, he just had to
touch her! His hand slowly began to wander lower.

So fast. Already he had her lying down. Trying not to think anymore, she
hesitantly began to kiss him back, albeit rather clumsily. Shards, she
was acting as if she'd never kissed him before! Embarrassed, she eased
back, allowing him to lead it completely and shivering when he took
advantage of her more submissive role.

She seemed to be much more into it, and so he began slowly, frustratingly
slowly, unlacing her dress as his lips covered every inch of skin that lay
bare before him. Shards, how long had he been waiting for this day! For
months he had loved her, but he had been imagining this moment for even
longer. He had wanted her since the first moment he had seen her shy
smile, her sweet blush, heard her melodic voice. K'lar had been ready to
be her weyrmate for a long time, and finally, it seemed, she was ready for
him as well.

The dress was off her shoulders now, exposing so much pale skin. She
freed one arm from a sleeve and grasped his forearm when he leaned back
slightly to look down at her. She felt a hot blush creep up her neck into
her cheeks under his burning stare. Was she beautiful to him? Or was she
just a slip of a girl when he expected a woman to be trembling beneath
him? Shells, she couldn't read his expression. Quickly she looked away
from his eyes, feeling self-conscious. She never would have blushed in
front of Biri. Not when she was lying here like this, with him hovering
over her. She would have grasped him to her and playfully nibble on his
neck, teasing him. She never would have doubted herself with him.

K'lar couldn't see the doubt in her. Nervousness, yes, he had expected
that. But he knew she was no virgin, and he did not expect her to be.
She was still sweet and shy, two things that just made him want her even
more as he helped her out of her other sleeve and gently peeled the fabric
away from her body. "Shards, I've wanted you for so long," he murmured as
he began kissing her neck, hands much more bold and eager.

She supposed that was his way of reassuring her, but the way in which he
explored her body and didn't look into her face...well, it really didn't
make her feel any better. Even though her body was responding to his,
there was something lacking here...something she missed desperately, so
much so that it brought a lump to her throat. Shutting her eyes against
an older memory, she carefully tugged his tunic out of his slacks, fingers
pressing against the hot, damp skin of his spine and then moving them up.

He took that as a sign that she wanted it off him, and he quickly obliged
her, followed soon by his trousers. She seemed to be feeling as impatient
as he was more than happy to speed things along. "Just think, Nia," he
murmured against her skin, "this is just the first night of the rest of
our lives together..."
