Description: Trealeina gets scored during threadfall
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 13, day 5 of Turn 4
Trealeina and Tamineth stood ready, Thread had been falling for only a candle mark and a half and they had already made several deliveries without event. She anxiously waited her order for the next delivery. She waited with
baited breath for the next jump.
Then it came, the demand for another sack of firestone. Tamineth sprang upward, then /between/. They came out just below the waiting rider. Trealeina measured her distance then threw the bag. She had delivered another
successfully. She was just about to tell Tamineth to go back home when she saw a sliver of silver thread pass too close for comfort. **Thread, to your left, get it! ** Tamineth flamed it turning it to ashes.
Trealeina did not waste time to watch the ashes float away, **Back to the bowl Tamineth** They winked /between/ again and Tamineth came out above the bowl, She glided downward, they landed and positioned themselves for another delivery.** Whew ! That one was too close** she told her dragon, though more to herself than to Tamineth.
The next call came. They arrived just as a clump of ashes scattered in the wind. Trealeina threw the bag and was about to tell Tamineth to go back home when she felt extreme pain on the back of her left arm. Before she could
tell Tamineth anything the green winked /between/ and came out above the bowl trumpeting loudly as if she were in pain.
Trealaina lay forward, holding in the pain as much as she was able and breathing heavily. Hearing the pain in her dragons voice she asked ** are you hurt?**
}: No, but you are, I must get you to a healer:{
**yes my dear one** Trealeina winced with the pain caused by the upbeat of her dragons wings. **but do not injure yourself in the process, I will be fine until we get to the healer**
Tamineth glided down to floor of the bowl and Trealeina dismounted. As she reached the ground there was already a healers apprentice running to meet her.
"Take off your jacket and shirt, rider" the healer said looking at the blood that was escaping the jacket sleeve and dripping off of her wrist. "so I can take a look at the damage"
Trealeina took off her jacket, wincing once more at the pain, tears involuntarily falling down her cheeks caused by the movement of her arm.
"We will cut off the tunic to save you from having to pull it off over your head." The healer pulled a pair of scissors from his bag and started cutting the fabric of her tunic of the bottom then ripped it the rest of the way as he had finished cutting a little more than halfway.up.
A low rumbling and growling sounds could be heard just a few steps away from the pair as the healer examined her arm. "Trealeina, right?" Trealeina nodded. "please calm your dragon, young rider, you are not going to die. Your green has nothing to fear" he said firmly, but the twinkle in his eye told her that he was not near as gruff as he came across.
**Tamineth, my most precious gift, you must not fuss so, I will be alright. the healer is doing a good job, I will heal soon.**
}:sorry, I am worried. you hurt so much. I just wanted you to feel better.:{
** I know my sweet, but you must relax a little, so the healer can concentrate on his job. I think all of your worry is distracting him.**
"You might want to take in a deep breath rider, this will hurt, ...... alot" he told her placing an emphasis on the last word.
Trealeina nodded, took a deep breath and held it. At first the healers touch sent a wave of pain as he applied the redwort, letting it dry before applying the numbweed.
"There" he said "you should be feeling better any minute now. The pain did not last long as the medicine started to take effect. "That is pretty much the extent of what I am to do. You must check with the Weyrhealer before you leave, and report to the Weyrlingmaster.
Trealeina took in a deep sigh, she was not happy about the fact that she had been injured, but at least it was not serious and she would be out for only a few sevendays or so.
**See? no more pain, I feel much better now. Just a little longer my sweet I have to go see the Weyrhealer and the Weyrlingmaster**
Tamineth raised her head so that her whirling yellow eyes were just even with Trealeina's head. }: as long as you feel better, I feel better too :{
She smiled up at the green and scratched her eyeridge affectionately. After speaking with the Weyrhealer, she was given a small pot of numbweed and told to apply it as needed, and to come back in a sevenday to see how well she was healing. With luck she would be in the skies again in a few sevendays.
Trealeina took her things and put them in her weyr, then went over to the couch where her green was resting. Tamineth raised her head at the sound of her riders approaching footsteps, eyes now whirling a blue green since she still was not completely settled. Trealeina wrapped her arms around the huge green snout and lay her head against Tamineths, just below the greens eyes.. Tamineth tried to rumble soothingly, and sent only loving feelings to her rider.
Trealeina took in a deep breath and released her hold, and slid down and lay down with her head resting on the greens chest. Tamineth moved her front arm so that Trealeina was in kind of a cradle. Trealeina closed her eyes and drifted off to sleep. Tamineth watched her rider sleeping for a few minutes, her eyes changing finally to the blue of contentment, and closing one set of eyelids at a time, Tamineth was soon asleep too.
