Trealeina and Tamineth stood ready, Thread had been falling for only a candle mark and a half and they had already made several deliveries without event. She anxiously waited her order for the next delivery. She waited with
baited breath for the next jump.
Then it came, the demand for another sack of firestone. Tamineth sprang upward then /between/. They came out just below the waiting rider. Trealeina measured her distance then threw the bag. She had delivered another
successfully. She was just about to tell Tamineth to go back home when she saw a sliver of silver thread pass too close for comfort. **Thread, to your left, get it! ** Tamineth flamed it turning it to ashes.
Trealeina did not waste time to watch the ashes float away, **Back to the bowl Tamineth** They winked /between/ again and Tamineth came out above the bowl, She glided downward, they landed and positioned themselfs for another delivery.** Whew ! That one was too close** she told her dragon, though more to herself than to Tamineth.
The next call came. They arrived just as a clump of ashes scattered in the wind. Trealiena threw the bag, but before she could make another move, a clump of thread came down toward her. **Back to the bowl, now!** Trealeina
ducked trying to let the thread pass over her, but there was just not enough room. If she had moved backward it would have scored Tamineth. There really wasn't enough time to do anything else but go /between/. She could feel the burn of the thread as it ate through her riding hear and into her left shoulder just before jumping /between/.
Trealeina grabbed her shoulder then leaned forward laying her head on Tanineth's soft neck, drawing comfort from it, then wrapped her right arm around the dragons neck to keep her balance. She winced and groaned as the movement made more pain.
Tamineth let out a roar as she came out of /between/ above the bowl. }:you are hurt!!:{ Tamineth roared in Trealeina's thoughts.
**Its ok, it is not anything bad, it is just my shoulder. I am sure it is nothing too bad. As long as you are not hurt, rest easy dear one** Trealeina tried to control the pain that seemed to burn through to her very bones. Trealeina ground her teeth at the pain. She had clamped down so hard on her teeth she feared she would brake one.
}:but you hurt so much!: We are landing, here is a healer:{ she said trying to get her rider help quickly with out making her hurt more. Trealeina released the riding straps and slid down to the waiting healer.
"Let me see."" the healer demanded impatiently as Trealeina unfastened her riding jacket and slid it off her left shoulder first. Tamineth could be heard rumbling as she waited eyes whirling the yellow of distrss and worry." Is
your dragon hurt?" the healer asked
"no, she is not" The healer gave a nod, the gently pushed Trealeina to a chair so the tunic could be removed and she could clean it better.
**Tamineth, dear one, it is ok, I am with the healer now, it will be over soon, try not to worry so**
The whirling seemed to slow down, but the worried green's yellow eyes still watched her riders every move. "It is not as bad as it could have been" the healer said after cleaning it up and applying numbweed. "You will not be
able to fly the next thread fall, but perhaps the next one, depending on how well you heal in the next sevenday."
The healer put a patch over the wound telling her to keep it on for the next few days until it heals enough that it won't be bothered by the fabric from her clothes touching it. Trealeina thanked the healer and started to her
weyr.
