Description: Karri and Kamalia chat about weyrlinghood while feeding Alaudath.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 12, day 24 of Turn 4
"Is she sleeping through the night yet?" Karri asked as she came up
to Kamalia. The girl was chopping away at her green's breakfast, and
looked tired. The dragons had a habit of waking up at odd hours the
first few sevendays and it took awhile to get them into a normal
pattern sometimes.
"Not quite, but it's getting better." Even though Kamalia hadn't been
getting enough sleep, she radiated happiness from her recent
Impression to the little green. "When she is awake, she asks
questions constantly."
}:Who is she? Is she nice? Will she stop you from cutting food for
me?:{ the little green asked, looking over at Karri.
**Her name is Karri, she's a greenrider, and I can talk to her and cut
at the same time,** Kamalia replied quickly.
Karri gave a small chuckle as she remembered Elliath being the same
way. "Dragonets are alot like children in that respect I guess. As
she gets more independent she'll start asking the other dragons her
questions so you won't be bombarded with them for long."
"That will be a relief, although it's wonderful to be so needed."
}:Will Elliath steal my food? Or, is her rider bringing more food for
me?:{ Alaudath walked over the Karri and sniffed her leg, wondering
if food was hiding somewhere from her.
Kamalia giggled, glad her little green was distracted, rather than
crowding her as she usually did, constantly asking when she could eat.
"She's wondering if you have any food, or if your green will show up
to steal the food I'm chopping."
She leaned over and scratched the young green's eye ridge. "Your
lifemate is getting you all the food you need, and my lifemate is old
enough to hunt her own food."
}:So, she won't steal my food?:{ Alaudath asked, leaning into the scratch.
**No, she won't,** Kamalia replied. "How long until Alaudath can get
her own food?" she half-joked. Chopping up meat several times a day
was already getting tedious. And, as the days passed, the green would
demand more and more food.
"Until she can fly and learn to hunt." Karri replied as she turned
her attention back to Kamalia. "But she'll start only eating every
couple of days in a few sevenday so it won't be this bad."
"But then she'll be big. I kinda like her this size. She's easy to
wash and oil, and I can even pick her up if I need to."
Karri grinned, "They are really cute at this age."
"Isn't she?" Alaudath preened with the praise. "I know I shouldn't
tell her that all the time, but I can't help it."
She noticed that the dragonet was starting to slow down in her eating,
"There's nothing wrong with spoiling her. She's your other half now,
the most important thing in the world to you, she deserves it."
Kamalia smiled, looking in wonder at the beautiful green that chose
her. "She's glad to hear that." The new weyrling could spend all day
and night with Alaudath, and all of her conversations since Impression
revolved around the little green. Everything else just didn't seem
very important.
Karri looked around and noticed that all the dragonets were about
finished eating. "I'm going to check on a couple others before they
get the dragonets down. Do you want to join me for a bite to eat
after you're finished with her?"
Kamalia was reluctant to leave her pretty green, but Alaudath was
getting tired after having eaten so much. "That sounds great," she
told Karri with a smile. **Lets get you back inside so you can
sleep,** she told the dragonet.
"See you in a bit." Karri gave a quick wave before heading off
towards a young bluerider who seemed to be having trouble with his
hatchet wielding.
}:Tired tired tired:{ Alaudath chanted, getting Kamalia's full attention.
**Well then, lets get you back to your nice bed. Maybe later you can
spend time with Elliath.**
}:That would be nice. As long as she doesn't eat any of my food:{
**I promise she won't.**
