"So where to next?" B'lamick asked as he sipped on the ale he and Honalyse had just purchased from a vintner's stall.
She handed the parcel with the new skirt she had just bought off to him. "The felines of course! They say they are pure white! That's really rare."
"I think they're over by the dock, let's drop these off at the dragons first." He hefted the skirt and the many other parcels she had managed to procure in the short amount of time they'd been at Shadow Cove under his arms and headed away from the dreaded merchant stalls.
"Oh wait! Stop. I smell bubblies." And her stomach was starting to growl.
He almost refused her, the parcels were very unmanageable, but bubblies _did_ sound very good. "Over there," he nodded towards a vendor with a small crowd in front of it.
"If you want to load those up on Latarth, I could just meet you at that stand over there," she suggested, not totally unaware of the struggles he was having.
"All right." he agreed without hesitation, "Get me two and I'll owe you, I can't reach my marks right now."
"Sure, no problem," she smiled as she bounced off towards the bubblie stall.
It didn't take him long to load up Latarth, but when he returned to the stall Honalyse was nowhere to be found. He eventually located her surrounded by young men, laughing and flipping her hair. He just rolled his eyes. ** That has got to be the record for getting ditched at a gather!**
It seemed a waste to return to the Weyr so early, so B'lamick walked around for a bit and ended up at a smith's stall where he saw a small metal ring. It wasn't fancy, but it had cuttings along it that reminded him of the facets of a dragonseye and he thought of Tey. He bought it, thinking it'd make for a good birthingday present maybe, pocketed it, and then headed back towards that bubblie pie stall since he'd never gotten one from Honalyse.
She was not there, however. After he had apparently gotten lost somewhere, she had wandered down towards the white felines, thinking he might have gone straight there, bubblies in hand and two holder boys in tow. They were cute and sweet, but they were obviously panting like canines, and while it had been flattering at first, their bumbling compliments were starting to get annoying. **Will you ask Latarth if his rider fell into a ditch somewhere?** she silently asked her dragon. **He's supposed to be saving me from these people!**
}: Tibith's rider wants to know if you fell in a ditch.:{ Latarth relayed faithfully.
B'lamick looked up from the bubblie he was eating and looked around. **What did she get tired of them already? Ask her where she is and if she wants me to find her.**
**Shards, men are so thick sometimes,** Honalyse sighed. **Yes, I want him to come to the feline exhibit and _rescue me_!**
Tibith faithfully relayed the message. }:Mine says she wants him to rescue her at the feline exhibit. And men are thick.:{
"What'd she do, fall in with the felines?" he muttered as he finished his pie and headed towards the felines. **It'd serve her right if I just left her.**
Honalyse scanned the crowd, barely listening as one of the boys proudly listed of his family's holdings. Finally, there was B'lamick! "Hello darling," she cried running up to plant a kiss firmly on his lips. "Play along," she whispered as she pulled back, taking his arm. "Boys, this is bronzerider B'lamick - my escort."
When he'd come to the Weyr, he'd spent many a night thinking about those ruby lips, but now that he'd finally gotten a taste of them they were a bit... disappointing. Still, it didn't stop him from smiling and taking up the charade she'd started. "Thank you for entertaining my weyrmate for me boys. She gets bored sometimes when I have to attend to official Weyr business. Have you had a chance to see the felines yet, dear?"
"Why no, I was waiting for you," she replied with a grateful squeeze of his elbow. "Thank you again for the bubbly pies, boys. You were very kind. Shall we, dear?"
As they walked away and were out of earshot, B'lamick leaned over, "I thought you wanted me to get lost when you found a young holder for the evening?"
"One, yes, but not a whole group of them!" Especially since none actually knew what to do with a real woman when they were faced with one.
"Well pardon me for misunderstanding." he replied sarcastically.
"You're new at this so I'll forgive you this once," she replied with a haughty air. "Can we see the felines now?"
B'lamick sighed, he didn't know if he wanted to rescue her more than this _once_. "Sure, lead the way."
