Characters: L'rew, Karri
Description: L'rew's anti-social ways finally get to Karri
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 12, day 3 of Turn 4

Karri snuck a peek at L'rew from the corner of her eye from where she
was sitting on the rocks. He was still there, and still ignoring her as
he gazed out at the wing they were watching doing drills. When they had
first started, she had tried to start a few discussions about what they
were observing, but he would only reply with a few words here or there,
and those became fewer and fewer until finally nothing. Now they'd sat
there silently for a good quarter hour and Karri was annoyed. "You
know, I can sit here in silence just as long as you can."

The brownrider's head whirled round to look at her, surprised by the
silence broken. But it was only Karri. "Apparently not," he muttered,
turning his head back to look at the wing.

Her eyes slitted as she stared at him, he was so frustrating! "You're
right, I guess not all of us are cut out to be so anti-social."

He rolled his eyes skywards. "I thought I was supposed to be here
observing the drills. I didn't know I was supposed to entertain you
too."

"Oh yes, because I always depend on _you_ for entertainment." Now it
was her turn to roll her eyes, " Come on, how am I supposed to know if
you understand any of the drills if you won't _talk_ to me?

Women were impossible sometimes. "Well, I can't read your mind. If you
want to know something, you should ask."

Karri gritted her teeth, "If you'd answer me in more than one word
grunts I would!"

"Oh for Faranth's sake, woman," he muttered, closing his eyes and trying
not to give into the frustration he could feel mounting. "I answered
you, didn't I?"

If he had been one of her brothers, she would have walloped him by now,
and even though he wasn't she was still considering it. She couldn't
remember the last time she had been so mad at someone! "Shard it! Were
you raised by tunnelsnakes or something? You just have no idea how to
be civil or nice or social or anything at all do you?"

There was apparently a reason why dragonriders chose never to marry.
L'rew could now appreciate that, and thank his lucky stars that he has
escaped a life when he would have been expected to find a wife. "I'm
not one of your girlfriends. I'm here to observe the drills as I was
told to do. I thought you were supposed to be here in case I had any
questions, not to talk my ears off."

Karri's body was shaking she was so furious with him. Her mind wavered
between the silent treatment he seemed to prefer and the punch she
really wanted to give him when Elliath broke through her thoughts, }:
Why are you upset with Chairoth's rider? :{

**Because he's a horrible horrible person.** she replied, unable to stop
her seething as she thought to her green dragon.

}: Chairoth loves him, he can't be horrible. :{ Elliath reasoned
sounding much more wise than she meant to.

}: Elliath wants to know if you're as horrible as her rider thinks you
are,:{ Chairoth helpfully passed along to his rider. }:I told her of
course you are perfect.:{

"I am _not_ horrible!" L'rew protested, turning on the greenrider.

Karri eyes grew round as saucers as she realized he knew what she had
said, then she became furious, "You're talking to my _dragon_!"

"Your dragon is talking to _mine_!" he snapped back. What did she think
he was, a HAD?

"Oh," she said aloud, feeling foolish at her accusation. In her mind
she hissed at her lifemate, **Elliath! How could you tell on me like
that!**

}: Chairoth thinks the boy is perfect. :{ Elliath explained, confused as
to why her rider was mad. }: You should be nice to him, Chairoth says
he is sad alot. :{

"Why are you sad?" Karri asked aloud, momentarily forgetting her
earlier anger as this new aspect of L'rew appeared.

"Sad? I'm not sad. I'm watching the drills." L'rew was confused, and
a little unnerved at the question.

Her anger flared again at the lie, "Well Chairoth says otherwise."

"Yeah, well Chairoth worries a little too much as all. At least he
doesn't call me _horrible_! If I'm so sharding horrible, maybe you
shouldn't have come out here to sit with me. I don't need you. I don't
need _anyone_!" And L'rew certainly wasn't going to sit around and be
insulted yet again! In a huff he stood to his feet and stalked off in
the direction of his weyr. The drills could just shove off /between/
for all he cared.
