Description: A bronzerider tries to seduce Kamalia.
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 11, day 16 of Turn 4
L'tar scanned the rows of tables in the dining caverns, eyes searching
searching… **A Ha!**
}:What?:{ Torth asked sleepily.
**I might have found someone to have fun with.**
The bronze didn't bother replying. L'tar often spent time with young
women and, as long as he was happy, Torth was content.
She was pretty, her long brown hair pulled back into a ponytail. He could
imagine it hanging loose, falling in waves down her back and over her
shoulders. Or, perhaps it could stay tied back, so he could easily hold it in
his hand and guide her head as…
But, they had not even met yet. However, he had high hopes that she
would provide some amusement, for several candlemarks if nothing more.
She was young and pretty; just what he needed.
"Are you waiting for a suitor?" he asked, smiling and, when she looked
up, holding her gaze with his own eyes.
Kamalia looked up and had to catch her breath as her eyes took in the
gorgeous dragonrider who had just taken a seat right next to her. He was
everything she fantasized about when she thought of bronzeriders. Even
without the knots proclaiming his rank, she could not have imagined him
riding any other color.
His hair was black and cut short, his eyes dark and piercing. His skin was
almost as dark as klah and he was heavily muscled. She was already
imagining what he would look like, shirtless, washing his bronze in the
weyrlake. But no, he wasn't far away, and she wasn't surreptitiously
gazing at him. He was right next to her. If she reached out her hand, she
could touch him; run her fingers down his arm.
All these thoughts passed through her mind in a moment, as her eyes met
his. Although her mind was racing, she barely managed to remember
what he had asked her before sitting. "No, no suitor," she managed to say
softly.
She was delicious. Definitely holdbred. "You must have a lover then."
When her eyes widened his hunch was confirmed. She had been Searched
at a Hold and arrived at the Weyr, but had not quite adapted yet to
weyrlife. He laughed lightly, to show he was joking. "How long have
you been here?"
"Just under a Turn." She felt as if she were in a dream.
"That long? I'm surprised I haven't seen you before." L'tar kept his gaze
steady on her until she blushed and dropped her eyes down to her plate.
"A pretty girl like you could have lovers right and left if she wanted to."
He had learned a bit of exaggeration, or even outright lying, could go a
long way.
Kamalia blushed even more and drank some cool water to try to calm
down. She couldn't believe a young, perfect _bronzerider_ was paying
attention to her. Even though she had begun to flirt with men, most had
just been other candidates, or a bluerider or two. Once she had spoken
with a brownrider. Never a bronzerider though. Her normally exuberant
personality was masked by the awe she felt at the fantastic situation she
was in.
L'tar couldn't believe how well she was reacting. She was obviously
overcome by his advances. This would be easier than he thought. "My
bronze likes meeting beautiful young women almost as much as I do.
Would you like to meet him?"
"Of course," she breathed, letting her eyes drift up to his face again. She
never turned down the chance to come face to face with a dragon, much
less a bronze.
When she turned her face away again in embarrassment, he quickly leaned
over and kissed her on the cheek, sliding his fingers lightly over her upper
leg.
"What are we waiting for?" He stood, leaving his untouched plate on the
table.
Her food forgotten, Kamalia stood as well and followed him towards the
exit. Her brain was unable to process the suddenness of the experience.
First, a wonderful bronzerider had come to talk with her, and then had
kissed her. It was wonderful. Although brief, the kiss made her cheeks
even redder, and the touch on her leg sent shivers up and down her spine.
Wordlessly, she walked behind him, smiling when he looked back to make
sure she was still there. She was already imagining the letter she would
write back to her siblings. She had caught the eye of a bronzerider! Of
course, her parents couldn't be told, but some of her sisters would love to
hear everything. They would be so jealous!
Suddenly, someone grabbed her arm, and Kamalia was started out of her
daydream.
"Where are you going?!"
There was Arrilon, her older brother, quickly moving to place himself
between Kamalia and the bronzerider.
"I'm just going to meet a _bronze_ dragon." Kamalia looked up at him,
furious at his intrusion. "Go eat your evening meal."
"What's going on?" L'tar wondered if the girl had lied about having a
suitor.
"That's none of your business," Arrilon snarled, trying to guide Kamalia
away from the man. He had just entered the dining caverns and, luckily,
had seen the two. He shuddered to think of what would have happened if
he had arrived just moments later.
"Just stop it Arri. I'm fine!"
But Arrilon just ignored his sister. His hand was still wrapped tightly
around her arm. "I don't know who you are, but get away from my
sister."
L'tar wasn't about to fight for a little Candidate whose name he didn't
even know. Besides, people were looking at them. No, maybe he would
try again later. Or, perhaps not. There were easier catches to be had.
The bronzerider gave an easy smile and a small bow. "As you wish."
Then he turned and walked away, slightly annoyed at the young man who
had hindered his plan, but confident he would be able to find someone else
to spend the night with.
"You always ruin everything!" Tears welled in Kamalia's eyes,
threatening to fall at any moment.
"Just shut up," Arrilon retorted. Still squeezing her hand, he led her
farther into the dining caverns. They would talk about this incident later.
