I Came for You

Characters: Traelyn, U'kaiah
Description: Desperate to prove B'ram wrong, Traelyn follows U'kaiah
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 11, day 6 of Turn 4

Traelyn hated to admit that B'ram's words had shaken her--she hated to
admit that he knew her better than she knew herself. But in this he was
wrong about her. He had to be! U'kaiah wasn't her _convenient_ anything.
Their relationship was built on strong friendship and trust. **And yet,
so it was with L'kub,** her doubting mind whispered as she stood seething
outside U'kaiah's office door. She could hear him in there: hides
rustling, boots scratching against the stone floor, fingers drumming idly
on the desk. Closing her eyes briefly, she braced one hand against the
wall, kicking that guilty thought away. Sharding B'ram! She wouldn't
throw everything she and U'kaiah were together away because of one
misstep. Hadn't she already proved that? **Have you? Remember
L'kub...** Faranth, she didn't _want_ to remember. She was determined to
see that her past and present would not mingle where U'kaiah was
concerned. He wasn't L'kub, and she wasn't the girl she had been.

Temper flared in her dark eyes as she vainly grasped onto that
thought--that reassurance. **I'm different. Not the same.** B'ram might
think that she remained the same after all of these Turns, but he was
wrong about that too! He would not peg her down and chain her under that
yoke. Lifting her chin, she grasped the knob and slipped inside U'kaiah's
office, locking the door behind her.

The bronzerider looked up from his hidework, startled by the unexpected
interruption and surprised to see the goldrider he had left not more than
a candlemark before in the company of another man. "Trae?" Her eyes
looked positively wild. "What is it? What's happened?"

She came closer. "Nothing."

He cocked his head to the side and regarded her with confused curiosity as
he laid his hidework aside. "I thought you had plans for the evening."

Her eyes flashed as she remembered B'ram's sneer. "Not anymore." Holding
U'kaiah's gaze, she slowly walked around his desk, hips swaying, lips
parted slightly in a small--very small--smile. Carefully she planted a
hand on each side of his chair then leaned close. "I canceled them."

U'kaiah could feel his body react to her as looked up into the smoldering
grey eyes of the goldrider looming over him. "Canceled them?" he asked,
his eyes traveling down to her very low neckline. "Whatever for?"

She didn't need words to express an answer that would be good enough for
him. Traelyn's grip tightened on the chair as she dipped her head to his,
finding his lips with hers in a kiss meant to instantly heat the blood,
not slowly excite. There was nothing sweet or soft about this--nothing at
all.

He leaned into her, returning the kiss with just as much fire and passion.
That small whisper of uncertainty their parting had left in his mind was
quickly silenced as he curled his fingers around her neck. U'kaiah had
thought he had grown past his jealous nature after the disastrous result
it had left in his relationship with Syntara, and yet the way that man had
looked at him, as if he were somehow an intruder... Some primal place in
his subconscious was screaming to claim this woman as his. That man might
roll with her from time to time, but when they were together, Trae was
_his_, and no one else's, just as he was hers.

The way he was grasping at her made her feel good. Really good. A snarl
escaped her as she nudged forward, shoving aside his legs so she could
stand between them. B'ram thought she didn't care for U'kaiah? Or that
he didn't care for _her_? Shards, if he could see them together now, he'd
know differently! The emotion that blazed behind both sets of dark eyes
as they pulled back briefly to gaze at each other could not be feigned,
nor could the passion behind each stroke, caress and kiss. It was passion
beyond just the physical sense. A feral smile curved her lips as his arms
urgently tugged her forward, his head buried against her chest. "This
chair won't work," she breathed in his ear, fingers tightening in his
hair.

He and lifted her onto his desk, not caring what might have been on it.
His hands slid along her thighs, lifting her skirt out of his way as he
leaned into her and almost groaned as her legs wrapped around his hips,
pulling him even closer. "Will this work?"

Traelyn's nails bit into the hot skin of his back, teeth bared in a lusty
laugh as she moved against him. "For now."

~~~
It much, much later when she finally found enough energy to roll over and
prop her head up on her arm to look down at the bronzerider. _Her_
bronzerider. As fun and exciting as having a tryst in his office was, it
hadn't been very comfortable for either of them, what with hides and
writing implements digging painfully into the oddest places on their
bodies. So, after, they had stumbled down the corridors to U'kaiah's
weyr, barely able to keep their hands off of each other--and definitely
were unable to once his door was closed and they were tucked away from the
curious eyes and ears of the Weyrfolk. But Traelyn had made him work for
it the second time--had teased and challenged him like a queen teased and
challenged the bronzes during her flight. And just like a queen in heat,
she had left her mark on U'kaiah...not just one, she counted, but many.
Carefully she reached out to lightly trace the edge of one of the glaring
marks on his neck, then the one on his shoulder. **Shards.** It wasn't
often that happened, and a part of her felt a little guilty. But only
just a little. A rather smug smile tugged at her lips as she took her
hand away.
"If you think the back is bad you should see the front," he teased softly,
reaching back to pull her arm around him with a smug smile of his own.
The evening had been... intense. He certainly didn't regret it. Not yet.
He had a feeling the next time he jumped into the bathing pool he'd think
twice, but it would be a while before he had enough initiative to move any
further than his furs.
"Sorry," she grinned, scooting closer to nuzzle the back of his neck.
"Don't be," he sighed, relaxing into her. Turning his head to peek at
her, he smiled impishly. "I think I might have left a mark or two on you
as well."
"Mmmm..." Gingerly she fingered her neck. "Mmm-hmm."
U'kaiah rolled over onto his back to inspect his handiwork. That one was
going to be hard to hide. "Just a little souvenir of your visit to
Dragonsfall." He lifted his head to kiss the darkening mark softly.
Her unexpected visit. And she was glad she'd come. She smiled at him,
the familiar soft expression lighting her eyes now that the fire brought
about by her doubts and temper had faded. Yet there was still the heat of
passion there as she leaned closer to gently brush her lips against his.
"It won't be the last time, I'm sure."
He snorted softly, reaching up to brush back the strands that were
threatening to fall into her face. "It better not be," he murmured,
nipping gently at her lip. "You still haven't seen Kalamath's eggs, after
all."
"I meant bringing home a 'souvenir,'" she chuckled, brushing the tip of
her nose against his. "Obviously I'll be coming back! And yes, I'd love
to see those eggs...."
U'kaiah chuckled softly. "Perhaps you should have thought about that
before you laid me flat. I don't think I'll be moving for a while." His
fingers curled into her hair, pulling her down to give her a real kiss.
"I'm glad you came tonight."
"Me too." She hesitated. "I...I couldn't have spent the night any other
way." Which was the truth.
He sighed, tucking his head under her chin, his nose buried against her
neck. "I'm very selfish, you know. I should feel bad for ruining your
evening, but the truth is, I don't." Not anymore.
"You didn't ruin anything," she snarled quietly, then bit her lip,
silently berating herself for such a tone even though it hadn't been
directed at him.
U'kaiah leaned back to look up into her face. He knew he had certainly
interrupted them at a rather inconvenient moment. Had they fought after
he left? Had they fought over him? "I'm sorry, love. I should have
given you some warning."
She shrugged a smooth shoulder. "He was the arse. Not you." Tenderly
she stroked his hair. "Not you."
"Do you... want to talk about it?"
Her smile was wry. "There's really nothing to say." Then her expression
grew serious again. "But I want you to know, U'kaiah, that I didn't come
here just because he and I were at odds. I didn't....I didn't come to you
for an escape. I came for _you_."
"I believe you," he quickly reassured her in a whisper, stroking her cheek
soothingly. And even if a little part of him still wondered just what her
relationship with the man was, he wouldn't have accused her of anything.
"I'm just glad you came."
