Observations from the ledge

Writers: Teresa
Date Posted: 19th February 2008

Characters: Trealeina
Description: Trealeina watches events from a ledge as she spends some time alone
Location: Dragonsfall Weyr
Date: month 8, day 26 of Turn 4

Trealeina bundled up in her jacket. Tamineth napping again **Lazy bones** she thought to herself as she smiled. Just thinking about her lifemate made her smile in a way no other has been able to do. It was still a little while until she had to be to her next class and she needed to be outside for a few minutes, besides, tomorrow they are expecting thread, everyone will be busy.

Which reminded her, she needed to find out if she could help in the infirmery, since she was studying to be a dragon healer, she wanted to be able to help with injured dragons, practice makes perfect her Father always told her.

She had spent way too much time inside in her opinion. It was still snowing but she did not care, she only pulled her jacket a little tighter around herself. She needed to go out. For some reason she did not feel much like mingling today. Trealeina made her way to a protruding ledge. Finding an area she thought wide enough, she squatted down, not wanting to put her bottom in the snow, and leaned her back against the rock wall.

Every now and then she craved solitude, well as much solitude as you can get when you have a dragon that even shares your thoughts with you. Not that she would ever change that. She had learned to block things that should not be shared with a dragon as young as she, or things she wanted to keep private.

**It is beautiful out here. It's hard to belive that tomorrow there will be thread. As long as there is snow on the ground it should not be as bad.** she thought to herself as she looked out at the terrain. she couldn't remember much snow at home. Sometimes she missed home, and looked forward to the time she could travel dragonback to visit when opportunity allowed.

Trealeina heard footsteps comming toward her on the ground. A couple, holding hands standing as close as their bulky clothing would allow. The young man released his grip on his girls hand and scooped up a hand full of snow packing it as the girl squeeled to "please don't" all the while she was bending down to scoop up a hand full herself. A short snowball fight followed and Trealeina quietly laughed to herself not wishing to give away her position.

They had soon had enough and wrapped around one another they kissed. the girl leaned her head against his shoulder and they walked on arms around one anothers waist. They walked out of sight and Trealeina took a deep breath, the cold air stining her lungs.

Suddenly she could hear a dragon trumpeting. A second mating flight?, there was one today. Ah well, no matter. She wondered vaugly what that was going to be like. She know that one of the reasons they learned to control what they thought, was so that the dragon would not loose control on a mating flight.

Soon she could see the green rising with the males following close behind. She could hear the dragons challenges, and croons as they raced in the sky. One finally caught the green and they plummeted from the sky, only to pull up at the last minute. The losing group of males flew lazily back to their destinations.

**Well that was exciting** she thought to herself. Realizing the time, she thought it best to get back inside and get ready for class. It had been a nice change, she felt refreshed and ready to go back inside.
